Thorin
I know a few people on here did. Thought this was quite funny... http://mmorpg.qj.net/Biggest-scam-in-EVE-Online-history/pg/49/aid/62826

SuperSupra
It's all jibberish to me but my brother's addicted to it - spends half his life on the bloody thing.

Bobbeh
excellent... never been into these things... Me neither.. I usually stuck to the FPS genre games.. I tried a few seasons of Planetarion, something which required a lot of time to play but got fed up with groups gaining up and destroying your hard work. At least with the shooters, everything reset after the map and you had a fighting chance again
Underworld
I cant go back to playing MMOs I spent a good 3-4 years of my life playing them Something I wont ever get back. I used to spend on average 10-14 hours a day every day playing them at uni. Anarchy Online and World of Warcraft
Ian C
I can't read that at work, what was it about? See if I've heard of it? I've got no internet access at home at the mo either (which has somewhat curtailed my Eve activities too). It's a brill game, what other MMORPG is still going strong after three and a half years? 25k+ players on at once, no shards, just one big universe. And it's geared for newbs as well as seasoned veterans, and no grinding needed to increase your skills. CCP actually looked at what was shit in MMORPGs and avoided those same traps -Ian
RedM
Here you go, Ian. "Most EVE Online players probably heard about the GHSC infiltration incident, when a group of agents worked for one of the most successful corporations in the game, spending over a year undercover to gain the trust of the members, who eventually granted them access to the corp hangars. What followed was one of the most incredible heists in MMORPG history, as the group stole over 30 billion ISK from the corporation as well as destroying the leader's ships and escape pods." "Now the community has barely had time to calm down and here it is, the next incident that easily surpasses the numbers GHSC achieved with their heist. It's the story of a guy named "cally", who ran a corporation, a player-operated bank called "Eve Intergalactic Bank". Over the course of four months, hundreds of players deposited money in his bank, which offered interest, loans and insurance like every other ordinary bank. Except for the fact that one day, cally decided to grab all the money that was deposited and fly off to space with an alleged total sum of 790 billion Isk. In real life, this would translate to \$170,000 - quite possibly the biggest MMO scam ever conducted."
Ian C
Cheers - GHSC I'd heard of, that's what you get for trusting people you don't know in real life A year undercover is fantastically extreme though lol That Eve Bank one though is new on me. Haha what idiots! Again, it's all down to greed - GEtFrEe MoeNy hEre!!!!111! Oh, OK then, where do I sign up
Alan999
Thats really funny and if they get away with it then its even better. I used to play Starwars Galaxies, played it from when it came out for about 3yrs I even started my own guild which is still going strong about 300members last i was told and grinded Jedi for nothing as they revamped it and changed everything so you could start as what ever prof you wanted so every man and his dog became a Jedi. Anyway I will never be playing anything like that again because you loose so much time etc but when you get into them its a great laugh if you get a good group together. Jive
Still got my account active but haven't had the opportunity to play on it properly for months Those stories made me laugh though I have just downloaded the latest patch and then found this thread .. how strange
Thorin
I liked the idea of EVE but never played it. My WoW account has since been deleted as I've not played for so long (crappy dial-up!). Hopefully we'll soon have broadband again in time for the burning crusades expansion and I'll get back into it again
