It is a whole day event, which includes driving from set start & finish points as a group,(which is always the best, & most enjoyable way!) with a couple of stops on route. Here is a rough outline of the proposed route. Start at Boxhill in Dorking, Surrey (from 9am, dept 10.15) Heading east to Faversham for light lunch (arr 12.30 dept 1.30) Heading south to Beachy head-Eastbourne (arr 3.30 dept 5pm) Heading northwest back to Boxhill for re-group (arr 7pm) From here I plan to go onto the Fairmile pub (15mins away) to end the day with an evening meal. Hope you all will be able to join us. More detailed route to follow soon. Please add your names to calendar if you can attend. Cheers Andy Detailed route Start point: Box Hill, Dorking, RH5 6BY (Rykers café) Earliest arrival: 9am Estimated departure: 10.15am Directions: Just of the A24 between the M25 & Dorking, at the bottom of the zig zag road on map!(B2209) (maps 1 & 2) --------------------------------------------------------------- Destination: Little Chef/Travelodge, Faversham, ME13 9EL (A299) For light lunch! Est' arrival: 12.30pm Est' departure: 1.30pm Distance: 68 miles Route: 1) Depart on A24 towards the M25 2) Join the A243 still heading to M25 (Gatwick) 3) Join the M25 heading east (Gatwick) 4) Continue straight ahead onto M26 5) Continue straight ahead onto M20 6) Leave at J7 and join the A249 7) Join the M2 east bound 8) Leave at J7 join the A299 9) Little Chef 1.5 miles on left hand side (Maps 3 & 4) --------------------------------------------------------------- Destination: Beachyhead, Eastbourne, BN20 7YA (Brewers Fayre pub) (B2103/beachyhead road) For drinks/ice's etc Est' arrival: 3.30pm Est' departure: 4.30pm/5pm Distance: 75 miles Route: 1) Depart on the A299 towards M2 2) Join M2 west bound 3) Leave at J6 join the A251 (Ashford) 4) Join A28/A2070 towards Rye 5) Join A259 coast road 6) Pass through Hastings, Bexhill, towards Eastbourne 7) Join B2103/beachyhead Rd, to Brewers Fayre pub (Maps 5 & 6) -------------------------------------------------------------- Destination: Return to Boxhill, Dorking, before going to Fairmile pub Est' arrival: 6.30pm Est' Departure: 7pm Distance: 75 miles Route: 1) Depart on A259 towards Newhaven 2) Pass through Seaford, Newhaven, Peacehaven 3) Turn off at Rottingdean onto B2123 (Lewes) 4) Join A27 west bound towards Worthing 5) Turn off at Sompting onto A24 6) Continue all the way back to Boxhill on the A24 (Map 7) -------------------------------------------------------------- Destination: Fairmile Pub, Cobham, KT11 1BW For evening meal!(for those who wish to join us. more the merrier!
