Pig
Im about to go and take off the O2 sensor on my uk spec to clean it. I have searched and just want to check im right. I simply un bolt the O2 sensor from the decat pipe follow the wire back and un clip it. Leave it in lemon juice over night to clean it. Regard the idle control valve, here is the pic i have of it. Is it just a case up take off and clean? What do i clean it with? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=13939&d=1112558977

Robert
yeah there are 3 bolts, and two coolant pipes underneath. Don't lose the washer in between the IACV and intake manifold, I used brake cleaner to clean it out.
Pig
Off to halfrauds to go and get some brake cleaner then!
bondango
Carb cleaner or WD40, just to loosen any crap that has gunged up inside it. Some people just remove the pipe which runs to the inlet and spray little amounts inside while the engine is running. But better its to remove it because a visual check is always a good idea. I think steve stripped his down to find the diaphram was cracked which wouldnt off hepled his running lean problems.
terribleturner
Jon whats wrong with the ICV?? Im just thinking you could always give it a quick test once it's off.
Pig
The car wont idle properly. Its really lumpy and sometimes even cuts out! Im not sure what to do to sort it. I have just taken the O2 sensor out and i look to already be cleaned. (pheonix prob did it when doing the single conversion) However its not plugged into anything. and the end of the plug is also melted. I just plugged it in to where i think it goes (by the front of the engine, but it made no difference) Any ideas for next moves??
Pig
Oh and there is also a plug by the ICV which is not plugged in!
Pig
Cleaned the ICV, idle is better. Not wanting to stall now. Still a little lumpy though, sitting just below 1K and bumping up and down. Any idea's? Also any idea's why my O2 sensor didnt need to be plugged in??
bondango
As you've cleaned it out, reset the ECU so it can relearn the Idle control now the valve has been cleaned out. If afater a few hoirs of driving its the same, you may need to check the Throttle position sensor. RE: o2 sensor not being plugged in. Is the car running a wideband o2? some you can configure an output to mimic the factory 1volt o2 signal to the ECU hence doing away with the stock sensor. Usually an unplugged o2 sensor will throw a code 21 Marty
Nic
Are you sure it was the O2 sensor and not the cat temp sensor that was unplugged? Usually when cats get removed the temp sensor is tied up out of the way.
Pig
Ahhh, that it could be. It was right at the top. Anyone got a pic of an O2 sensor? This is into the decat pipe. If its useless why would the decat pipe have a hole for it?
terribleturner
Melted plug?? Plugs not in?? Have you got a close up picture Jon?? The O2 sensor you removed, did it have small holes in it and about 10-15mm thick?? Or was it about 5mm thin?? O2 Sensor http://alflash.narod.ru/O2/388.jpg Not a Toyota one, but this is roughly the size of a Cat Temp Sensor. http://www.microlabinfo.com/images/products/103.gif
