Paranoid mods...

If you deem them unsuitable then feel free to, as long as you contact me stating valid reasons why my opinions are being singled out and are willing to enter into discussion about your moderation I'm happy for you to do this. Just so long as the same rules are applied when I take offence to other people's posts and the rules are stated clearly and enforced to the letter.

Did anyone contact him to state why the post had been removed?

Not singling you out mate, just using yourself as an example (unfair to use another member when talking to you). This is where editing is difficult. A comment to someone else may be offensive to them but not to another person. We could end up with a forum of edited posts, because different things offend different people.

Im not sure if another mod contacted him originally but im pretty sure he has been contacted and being honest when you post up a thread like that i think you can expect it to be removed as its asking for trouble (literally in this case).

thats 2 examples of moderating, 1 good and 1 bad........

Moderating means just that - moderating, keeping an eye on things and stepping in when they feel its needed, but in the correct manner

yes, i agree with your last point. :)

no worries, i am ice cool here. just saying how i see it :D

Is this a coincidence that the recent spate of deletions and thread locking has started since WSB2 became a mod?...

Draw your own conclusions. :innocent:

Unofrtunatly as much as id love to of modded the threads in question :eyebrows: I do not have permission for those forum sections, but i would of modded in a very similar way.

No, I leave that one to the mods ;)

Thread starter and those that have caused a thread to be locked (threads shouldn't be deleted IMO) should be contacted and the error of their ways pointed out. If it's decided that a thread is getting locked the final comment being put in place by a mod to explain why this has happened, that way those involved in the thread are informed without the need to contact them individually. But with good moderation no thread should need to be locked or deleted, if the individuals causing the problems (and I'm opening myself up for attack now ;)) are dealt with then threads should be able to run their course and die naturally.

haha.

Thread locked= last comment by mods saying why although sometimes painfully obvious why. Yes, should happe IMO.

Thread locked v deleted = fine line down to individual interpretation so no rules/guidelines would ever change this completely.

I disaree with 'no thread need ever be locked or deleted' the only way slightly posible id deleting individual posts from a thread then you end up with half a thread that makes no sense to read, plus when posts are quoted and added to it complicates further, so no, we'll have to remain disagreed on that one. Tried it, doesn't work well.

Alex- no you can't lock individual posts.

Out of interest.

Can a specific post be edited by a mod and then locked so the original poster can't change it back?

And if a thread is deleted can you leave the first post and edit it to say "thread removed for content"?? Rather than it disappearing into the ether?

*cough*

All just IMO of course, it's your forum, I'm just here to tow the line and make the odd comment :innocent:

When I think a thread is worth salvaging I will prune posts, edit other posts referring to the pruned posts, and generally strip out anything that is disrupting the natural flow of a thread.

None of the threads I did any work on last night were worth salvaging, as there was nothing to salvage, so they simply got closed/removed.
