carl0s
nitrous... not exactly my thing but I've been kind of offered a cheap system, free install by a bike nutter pal of my uncles, and it would be nice to have /something/ custom about my car. (hell I can't even find wheels that I don't think look tacky) question is can nitrous be run safely for the occasional kick without affecting engine and transmission life? Paul R
I think it's fairly safe. depends what kind of power you want. if you go above a 75 shot then you'll need an APEXi ITC or an aftermarket ECU to look after the timing. It just so happens that I have an ITC for sale!!! how about that! Paul.
carl0s
how about that eh ;-) just so happens I hadn't considered the insurance aspect, so I'll be leaving this idea for now, unless it's offered to me at such a good price that I can't say no thanks for the advice re: reliability
THOR Racing
Just a quick note to say we fit Highpower Wizards of NOS kits and these are WET systems. I would never ever fit a dry NOS system. You must (in my opinion) ALWAYS fit a wet system. Wet system = NOS + Fuel jets Dry system = NOS (no extra fuel) Regards Pete
richy2jz-gte
dont tell insurance. if u have a bump disconnect pipe from bottle and explain 2 them that u only use it on track days and sprints and dont use it on public highway. sorted. i just sold a wizards of nos 75bhp wet kit with 15lb chrome bottle 2 a mate for £250 wish i had kept it for the sup now. supra dan
has anyone tried the n-ter cooler system, where the nos sprays onto the intercooler? says on MVP's site that you get 50 bhp from that.
Paul R
Just saw one on ebay. Sounds like bollocks to me! Very expensive way of cooling down your intercooler too!! Paul.
carl0s
i was wondering if you could just have the nos spray into or in the vacinity of the air intake. Surely this would still give you a boost?
THOR Racing
I've got a guy coming in on wednesday with an R33 skyline with a NOS intercooler spray. I don't hold out much hope. Cannot be as good as injecting it into the engine! Seems a waste of NOS to me! But I'm willing to be open minded about it. Might be good enough. I've got three NOS kits with 5lb bottle for sale at £500 (so your chap got a bargain) Normally about £575 Regards Pete
supra dan
i emailed dusty about the n-tercooler, he says the least he has seen from this is 38 hp. you can use co2 also which is cheaper, and use the venting kit.
Wez
I thought the car that made an extra 50hp had a hole or damage on the intercooler therefore som of the NOS was actually getting into the inlet which explains the increase.
Syed Shah
Nitrous sprayed on the IC on a dyno results in some being ingested via the intake. This is shown by more torque, and leaner AFR.
Jason
I've just had a 75bhp wet system fitted to the car. Had to have the TRL fuel cut defenser fitted (thanks Pete), I didn't realise that 75 horsepower would make so much difference. Its like driving a completewly different car. Not had a chance to run it down the 1/4 mile yet, so don't know how it will affect the times. I also had a progressive controller fitted so I can pretty much programme the nitrous to work how I want it too. And its all insured too!!

THOR Racing
Results are.... With 100HP NOS jets spraying on the intercooler he got 30HP improvement. Nothing was visibly ingested into the air intake. BUT if that was me (and I am fitting NOS this soon) I'd put my NOS to better use and stick it into the engine. Might be better to find another inert gas (that's cheaper) with similar heat reaction going from liquid to gaseous state as NOS. Then ingested NOS and some other liquid to gas coolant type thing on the intercooler (or even water but no where near as good). Purging NOS, especially before you go for a drag run is a good idea so why waste it over the windscreen to look good. Just purge onto the intercooler! ps. anyone spot us at Santa Pod over the weekend ? I saw a couple of you. Regards Pete
supra dan
think you can use c02 also, dont know if its as good as nos
carl0s
I would've thought the idea was to spray it in the air intake, so it gets used as air would. ?
supra dan
no, i think it just cools the air
