Poncho
was on my way to get mynew passenger grab handle today from toyota:) pulled off slip road and booted it to 70 and started cruising along and the car was shaking a hell of a lot! so i slowed down and pulled on the hard shoulder, got out, looked around the car a bit for something obvious. nothing. got back in, started off again, seems fine now. only way i can describe it was like of you slow down in a high gear, like its about to stall. but it was doing 3000 revs and its an auto! any ideas? really worried to go out in it now! MrRalphMan
Can you pinpoint where the shaking was coming from. I once had a plastic bag get stuck around the prop shaft and that was scary.. Felt like the car war trying to pull itself to bits.
Poncho
um, id say the engine, but to be honest it was shaking all over. might get on my hands and knees and look underneath for something obvious then, ones its stopped raining!

Alex
Check all the spark leads...vibration could have been caused by running on less than 6 cylinders.

n00b
are your brakes ok ... no strange noises... had a similar problem turned out the calipers where not returning correctly. i got severe vibrations and noises at speed... you would be able to here it from the wheels when driving (in my case the rear wheels)... charlie
andrew7
Do the finger test for your calipers. Take a shrt drive and try not to use the brakes too much. When you stop, if you have a sticking caliper it will feel considerably hotter than the others..

Poncho
just dropped the car off at the garage for tracking and balancing. however, the mechanic said they might have a problem with tracking cos its an import. he dosnt know if the tracking settings are the same as the uk? anyone know? Poncho
yeah, i did. it went for a little spin, cos i saw it return, luckly the guy driving was the garage owner, and is a little more "responsable" looking. have now got car back, and not a lot of difference. however, my rear break caliper appears to be sticking...... VIL
Sounds odd but has your car ever stalled or had problems selecting a gear? I know its an auto before anyone corrects me. apparently there is an auto box sensor somewhere that does who knows what (tech guys will be able to expand on this) and I and a few of the other auto owners have had problems in the past with these. For me the car used to shudder and stalling at pull off. Never heard of it whilst on the move but worth keeping in mind as something to investigate if you find nothing else.
