i bought it at the same time as decat/exhaust/BOV but they havent come yet!

so, as i expected the performance hasnt increased (that i notice)

cost - about 100 or more... cant rber!!

Noise- just that 'ptishh' noise... i have a std exhaust on my car, so its still quiet as till you lift off.. Maye a wee bit more of a throaty noise on acceleration..

Once you get the BOV on there the noise from both together gets much louder. You should be getting an induction 'roar' from the filter, but if you are running at stock boost then it will be much louder once you have modded the car.

That is unusual, may be your BOV or surrounding pipework had a leak.

It's possible. I swapped out my HKS induction kit for the stock airbox and noticed the car felt torquier/tighter lower down in the rev range. I have since taken the stock box off and am currently running with a K&N kit. Doesn't feel as torquey/tight in the low range but car builds speed (seemingly) more quickly...

Can't explain it really. A dyno day would help though

Very intersting, I have been considering returning, from my HKS dome, to the stock air box for the summer. I really noticed a power lag at low revs and after low speeds or standing still when air temps were high. Taking the OS headlamp out on the track eliminated this problem totally.

I guess as you say the only way to tell if there is a signiifcant difference in power or torque would be to do an induction swap while the car is on the rollers.

One other thing I might try is the stock box with a drop-in filter (K&N or other) which should yield the benefit of excellent 'cold-airflow' coupled with the filtration benefits.

Filtration aside, the problem is similar to that regarding gas flow through the exhaust, except there is the added 'air temp' variable i.e.

Three scenarios:

1) air chamber+smaller diameter pipe+cold air.

2) induction kit+large diameter pipe+ambient air (engine compartment+external air ducted).

3) enclosed induction kit+large diameter pipe+cold air.

I've run with scenarios 1&2. Anyone running (3)?
