Away for a stag do this weekend and do intend to sample the local hospitality but at the same thing I keep hearing bad things about the place. Has anyone been and how did you find the place? An airplane took me, caught a train to the Centrum - then I found my hotel. A very cool place when you're with mates. Anything I should watch out for or anywhere I should go? Drug dealers wanting to sell you cocaine or viagra. Walk past them. Disgusting orca-fat women in red-lit windows. Scarey and traumatising at the same time. anywhere I should go? Dutchflowers. Saying that I'm sure 30 pissed up, stoned Geordies should be enough to keep them at bay I read about the Banana Bar last night... sounds like an experience!!! Its no different from any other city, in fact street crime is probably lower in Amsterdam than any UK city. As other have said just ignore the street pushers, don't make eye contact with them and they'll soon get the message. The RLD is easy to find, IF you know where it is, just don't go assuming that the whole city is like that. Its a small area which has different rules. Drugs and alcohol DON'T mix well, if you're going to do them, do one or the other not both. Everyone speaks english, Dutch women are GIANTS, the RLD is a hoot, and the cooked breakfast in the Grasshopper is thoroughly recommended. There are loads of pubs, many of which double up as smoking holes. Can you recommend anywhere in Rotterdam?
