Potential Autobox problem – stupid unreliable FTOs

Experiencing some weird behaviour with my TIP box on my FTO in the last week, but only occasionally.

Firstly when I first turn the ignition on, the car isn’t holding the revs properly. Initially my first thoughts were that my stepper is on its way out

BUT once I get going, it then has problems changing up gears [in manual and auto mode], it changes up normally, but the car revs up, just like it would if it was in Neutral, so its almost like its having difficulty selecting and getting into gear and the car obviously hesitates.

Persevere on it for a few hundred yards and it sorts it self out. Its now done it twice in the past 10 days.

The car is going in for a service next week, in which the gear box will be serviced. Any ideas on what’s wrong?? Best case it’s an electrical issue………….worst case my gear box is buggered.

It could well be the fluid in the box to be honest, its not been done for a year. Although it was the first thing I checked when it started going crazy

ECU reset is not a bad idea

Conversion on the FTO costs in the region of £600 for parts and whatever on top for labour, good idea, unfortunately I don't have that sort of money lying around, but if the box is gone, then I will find the money for somewhere and convert.
