xksupra
I say put in tougher controls, afterall we have a duty to the next generation. If athlete's are all taking performance enhancing drugs, then by default all the young talented kids who want a career in athletics will have to take drugs to compete. Darren
This is a bit of a sore subject for me as I used to compete in 100 meters professionaly for 3 years. I never took the juice but had a good friend of mine who competed against me and took plenty of the stuff. My trainer was always telling me he was on it but I did not really beleive it. In my 100 Meter career I did not loose once in 3 years due to my trainer being such a hard ass and making me slug it out on the track by my own for hours on end while the rest of the guys were dossing about. I was the only person to obtain sponsorship by Nike and the plan was to go to the olympics (the last ones) long story short.. My so called friend who was on the juice has been in prison for 5 years serving a life scentence for killing someone outside a nighclub. Towards the end of his athletic career he was injecting silly ammounts of the stuff and became quite unstable. Basically he got himself in to a fight and ended up dismantling the local thug in about 1 minute.. Not happy with the fight and the way the guy had gone down while walking away he decided to run back and give the guy a dropkick to the head. The guy went home after he came to and his brain had apparently suffered internal bleeding which turned in to a clot and died in his sleep. The CCTV footage was all the judge needed to send him down. ALL OF THIS WAS DUE TO THE STEROIDS AND THE WAY IT CHANGED HIM... I dont think its ever been proved that steroid change peoples behaviour. Usually people are that sort of violent person anyway ie they have violent tendencies....IMHO from what I've read and seen...

And it makes sense chemically too. After all - steroids: Synthetic test. Test is key to aggression. Ever wonder why male dogs make the best fighters? Or why bulls charge at you while cows do the opposite?

Yes but not all male dogs want to fight and not all bulls want to charge
Syed Shah
ANY animal (human included) with high test levels will be aggressive. Or have to control their aggression (harder as test levels go up). Hormones have a massive effect on the mind and body. Just look at a women at that time of the month!
CJ
... Just look at a women at that time of the month! Past experience tells me that is not a wise thing to do. Or talk to them. Or smile at them. Or be in the same room.
Ewen
And some fell on stoney ground... I was there for you Chris:) I say no drugs in any sport. Cant imagine a world where the youngsters grow up knowing the only way they can emulate their heroes is to jack-up with the same shit. However, while I disagree with drugs in general, just think what some disciplines like weightlifting and bodybuilding would be like without steroids...it'd be like motor racing without petrol. Maybe just be honest and split into two classes - normal / enhanced. Make the prize money much higher in the normal class to encourage participation there rather than the alternative.
