Jake
"Poor mans Chelsea" Portsmouth FC are top of the Premiership! Only 37 more games to go. PLAY UP POMPEY! /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_cool.gif Anyone know how Boro got on?

Jake
Boro got beat 3-2.... Yeah, I know:D They were 2-0 up as well! Apparently Yakubu should have been sent off for his laughable goal celebration. I'm gonna record MOTD just to see that! well my team are 2-0 down to bloomin bolton What's a Yid doing in Hampshire? I've just put £2 on Spurs to win at 27-1 on Betfair. Good luck!
Elliot
Just got in from the game! Awesome! James made some outstanding saves, and Campbell was brilliant. Didn't Charlie Nicholas on Sky Sports say it was the best he'd seen him play in years!?! Johnson oozed class, and the rest of the team were excellent. The only player to have a quiet game was Gary O'Neil. Still beaming now
Jake
You got a season ticket Elliot? I watched the game on CeeFax On the radio it sounded like some of the passing between O'Neil and Matty Taylor was pretty poor at times but other than that it sounded great. I'm really pleased about us getting Johnson, he's quality. I remain to be convinced about Sol's commitment but I hope I'm proved wrong. I still think Kanu is shit. Every year I tell myself I wont, but every year I find myself renewing! Kanu didn't do too much else really, except for some neat passing, and he kept finding space. I think he's a great free transfer. Maybe not the striker we were after, but a good squad player.
KaoriFan
so happy Portsmouth did the business today, great start to the season for them. they are one of the teams i really want to do well this year. shame the real Arsenal couldn't win today. but will have to settle for the 'other Arsenal' with Campbell and Kanu will look forward to the Pompey highlights later on. it's a shame we don't cover Pompey on the local news in sussex, we used to cover Southampton. Bobbeh
Liverpool could only manage a draw 2 sendings off in the Pompey game? Should be fun tonight on MOTD
ivan
Oh, has that flippin' game started again? Seems like only yesterday we were losing the World Cup...
Charlotte
I thought Watford were so unlucky today. The ball totally hit Alan Stubb's hand and it should've been a penalty. And the decision against Powell, shocking.
DaveM
Lifelong Royals fan here and I couldn't be much happier today. First game in the premiership, give the visitors a 2-0 headstart and still manage to win. Think we may have been a little with Viduka's off-side decision though. Yeah, he was on-side.... but then it's a funny old game eh?! Boro are missing Southgate at the back.... he should have been player/manager.. and he might have to if he can't sign someone quick! But i'm a Pompey fan too :d :d And we are still in a champ league position, Lets hope we stuff boro on monday I think a draw would be a great result for us on Monday, considering the players Boro have got in their team and the millions they've spent, but you're right, at least we're heading for Europe! Wonder if Pedro will be back!? Thatcher ------->

If we can get Fratton the way it used to be I think we could do well this year. I'd like to see Harry spending some of this Russian money
Elliot
Well - who would have thought!? There was no way it was a drubbing like the 4-0 scoreline suggests, but lets face it - Boro didn't seem to have any ideas, and hit too many snap shots (especially The Yak) For once, Pompey took their chances. Boro were all over us, and might even have got back into it when Kanu got away for his second goal, which probably finished the game. Oh well, I'm not complaining! Rayman
Managed to get 3 pound on kanu at 200/1 for premiership top goalscorer before he bagged a further two goals yesterday, lets hope for my sake he keeps it up, long way to go yet tho, Henry has not put his scoring boots yet! well done to pompy, most improved team by far! Charlotte
Yeah, still can't believe the result was 4-0, boro were looking really good towards end of the first half, but they lost it after the goals beginning of second half. The pace was soooo slow, Kanu's last goal was practically walked down the pitched! Good on pompey all the same.
Mike
when Kanu got away for his second goal, which probably finished the game Ain't that the truth... typical Boro... we beat Chelsea last week and them get tonked by Pompey this week... not to take anything away from Pompey... they looked really good.. I was impressed with Kanu and Primus... we're just really missing Southgate at the back.. There is talk of Jonathan Woodgate coming to Boro... hmmm.... DaveM
I'm not a Pompey fan but have to admit that there defence looked excellent last night. Especially the Royals old Boy Linvoy Primus. Along with Sol and Stefanavich they looked really solid. They look as if they might upset a few of the bigger teams this season.
