I too have an aerotop auto NA and have to say the autobox is fantastic, you really really shouldn't dismiss them, take one out for a drive with the roof off and then take a manual out with a hardtop, you'll soon appreciate the difference! Jive
Originally posted by Ashley Willis I dont think you would want an auto in a NA, I shouldnt really comment as I never drove a NA auto Urm, bit of a daft comment there really ..... if you haven't driven one, how can you make a comment like that? That's like me saying the manuals are crap or the TTs are crap, I've never driven one so wouldn't make any comment other that "go test them all" As for getting "easier to get flying" - well I think the NA auto box is pretty damn good for getting the car to shift along at a fair old pace! Would love to compare the auto v manual NAs.......

Mad Ad
Yeh, there are manual N/A aerotops. Seen a couple in the Autotrader down my way this week actually.
Aerotop Dave
I was sure you could get N/A manuals and auto aerotops (definitely only auto TTs though). The technical reference section on this very site confirms that Some useful links in my sig for 'auto v manual' and 'manual aerotop conversion' threads. anthonyj
Tlicense -- how do you find the differences? Having converted your car from an auto to a manual, I guess that you might have some unique insight into the differences between the two (although I guess that having shelled out the cash, you do prefer the manual?!)... LOL I'll try to be objective.... The manual's better. Hope that cleared that up. Seriously, I find the car more fun to drive as a manual. It's not as relaxed a drive, but definitely better for the grin factor. I can't tell if the car is "performing" better because I had "other" things done at the same time, but an educated guess say's you'll gain a little HP to the wheels in stock form. You'll also find the car to be noisier, in terms of you can haer the engine/exhaust a lot more, mainly because you don't tend to drive the car in the highest gear all the time. Fuel consumption seems to favour the auto slightly. What makes the car better, is the control you have, although the auto box is good, even with the manual switch, when I change gear I want it to be when I want, not a second/half a second/quarter of a second later. There and then. Like I said. Manual is better.

Suprash
Firstly Keith, that comment wasnt directed at you mate, I dont know how you can come to the conclusion that I would imply you are a 'boy racer', I mean its not as if I could even get that from your driving Secondly, Jive, dude lets not go down the road of slicing and dicing peoples comments, you know me, Im a baffoon at the best of times. I was just chatting as though you were all sat in front of me.... ...and that brings me to thirdly, TCLicence, spot on conclusion mate, "its the way that you tell 'em" ... manuals are less relaxed, feel more racy, hense the comment it feels like you are flying faster, may not be......and its deffo a drivers thing for the gear changing, to feel it go into gear through your clutch foot and hand, not flick something and wait a split second... ......that was the only input I was trying to offer in the first place.....
