TLicense
Definitely a HR issue. I had to see them at my last place about someone who worked there. They said it's actually a health and safety issue! Mind you they didn't do feck all about it. He's still there humming away....

mathew
similar thing was going on in work with us. another guy approached him about it and the poor chap just broke down!! turns out he was suffering from depression pretty bad and no one knew. not washing is a common sign with this. however i work on a building site of all places and would never go to work smelly, theres always time for a splash of some nice smellies even if it does bring a barrage of abuse off the other guys along the lines of 'poof'
gaz1
after he leaves the office write a letter stating someone in this office has a hygene problem, and copy it and leave it on some desks but include his, he will get the message and will not know where it come from, failing that have you a jet wash on your site;)
Alan999
When i used to work in a pub afew years back we had a bloke that started that smelt abit so we all got on the bosses back and from then on every time he was in they made sure he showered before he started and even took his work gear off him for it to be washed. If it happens were i work now we just tell the peson and take the piss then next time we have any jobs or are doing any drills we give them a good blast off with a jet it always helps
Bob
Cheers guys, think I'll try the subtle approach first then. Failing that, a 100psi jet wash while he's sat at his desk

Pete
Cheers guys, think I'll try the subtle approach first then. Failing that, a 100psi jet wash while he's sat at his desk I find the jet spray doesn't clean to well. A bucket and sponge is far more preferrable. Use Sonax on him too - it feels nice and smooth and it'll give him a good shine afterwards. Maybe he needs claying?
jamesmark
I am sorry but if someone stinks more than just a hard days work then I tell them. I remember once I was in the Q in Asda and the man in front stunk and i mean I was nearly sick it was really that bad and I told him "mate your needing a bath" needless to say he was speechless and through me a dirty look while packing his bags, there is no excuse for BO apart from your a lazt bugger that cant be bothered to wash, obviously unless after a hard days work. Green Peace
Why not print out some kind of 'code of conduct' for working conditions, where each line has a tick box, including a line on personal hygene and apprearence during working hours, use of Photocopier etc etc lol...then a list of questions of how you could all improve the working envioronment, bit of a long winded and typically British way of approaching it I know, Otherwise just say 'You Stink you smelly cnut' go have a bath. The other thing I've done before is just raise my voice and say 'there's a bit of a funny smell in here, has anyone just come back from Billingsgate Fish market???' if you describe the smell it might help, though i doubt he even knows he smells... If he lived in london you might be able to excuse him, due to the drought situation. We have a hose pipe ban here still (I think) and we're encouraged to share a bath with an ugly person (Save water and make an ugly friend happy campaign lol) ....bollox to that if i dont have my two hour shower and luxoriate (hope this is a real word) myself several times in Molton Brown I cant function!
