Whitesupraboy2
you should be able to jump start any car to car, right true mate but ive heard of blown ECU's on the supra i think. (a gaz screen name on here blew an ECU )
Jake
IIRC, blown ignitor packs have been attributed to jump starting
absz
just do not rev up any of the engines while jump starting or while the jump leads are connected and you should be fine:) reving of engines causes power surges as both alternators are on load which could lead to damaging circuits via current spikes. Whitesupraboy2
i jump started it with the old Fiat x19 we got. decided wasnt worth the risk. we got 5 cars between 3 of us, may as well use a different one!

absz
Bloody hell, I didn't know you could damage the soop by jump starting another car !. I'll have to remember that. its not only the supe but most modern cars are easily damaged via power surges, theres too much electronics in cars these days:d

stevie_b
I'm reviving this old thread, hoping for an update. Can anyone offer advice on how to do it safely on cars with ECUs (e.g. what order to connect the leads), or can the danger to the ECU not be reduced? (I find it hard to believe that it's a no-no, otherwise jump leads will soon become pretty much useless) Also, if my supra ever needs to be jump started, is it possible to do this safely, or would I need to get it towed back home where I can remove the battery and plug it into a mains charger?
