Intercooler Pipes

Hi...

I am trying to get the stock intercooler pipe out, the one that goes through the inner wing, with little success.

Whichever way I turn it or pull it it won't come out, do I need to remove the stock air box, cut the sucker in half or bash it with a hammer....any tips?

thanks...............

I have tried both ways. I have taken out the wing liner so access is no problem

It is a real bugger to get out but you should pull it out from the top, and rotate it as you pull it out. Eventually you get the right combination if turning and pulling and it comes out.

You then have the frustration of not being able to get it back in despite being the one who finally removed it!

Has anyone got any further with getting an HKS replacement for this bit in the UK? I want one!

Are we talking about the first pipe out of the turbo's towards the SMIC going into the inner wing ?

For those that remember I ordered a hard pipe kit for the HKS S type IC from MVP Motorsports about 6 weeks ago. A few days ago it arrived and I can confirm that they now take international credit card orders (although delivery times are suspect).

The kit is a bit expensive for what it is, two pipes, three silicon connectors and six clips. Also  the silicon connectors don't match the ones supplied with the S type IC and the pipes are ally and the original S type galvanised steel

It looks a bit of a mess under the bonnet so I have sprayed the pipes satin black, better than burst pipes half way through your trackday.

I am planning too take out the airbox tonight, that should give me a little more room.

I got the same pipe kit as Gavin from MVP Motorsports but actually think they look good, exactly the same pipes/fitting as the R-Type FMIC.

Mine took about 2-3 weeks to arrive but teh order took a lot of chasing up.

They are a reall bitch to fit, I had to remove the airbox/hose and inner wing. I know what you mean Gavin about getting the rubber hoses out, just wait until you have to fit the  solids pipes though now this bit is really fun!!

cheers

Agreed they will look fine with the R type.

I managed to get the pipe out now, removing the air box is the key.

I got everything reassembled last night and too the car out for a spin.

Interesting too note a huge increase in power (only joking). The turbo's are much more audible with the thin metal pies than the thick rubber pipes.

Also I am a very bad mechanic and will take everything too Leon for now on.
