Sorry - but I believe that you are paying for the 'name' for these boys

Our Miami-Rice 16 fin/inch FMIC is the equivalent of the Blitz 'R' size and costs £925 (ish) including the hard pipes

They only cool air m8 - what prices eh?

You haven't put up the Blitz 'S' (LM) to compete against the HKS

Blitz 'S' = Retail £1115 Miami R Price = £995

If it's just cosmetics you are after you might as well laminate a photo of your favourite FMIC and mount that - I'd be more concerned about comparing things like extruded-tube core vs plate and shell, pressure drop, efficiency, single-row vs multiple-row, temps before and after the IC and so on.... best for bling might not be best for performance IMO.

Is there any group test FMIC info around or any tech tests of the various models to look at for reference? I know the chaps in the US rate the HKS on the higher end cars but in the same vain some prefer the Greddy or even the Spearco and Apexi - I've yet to see any hard evidence why one is better than the other though.

Paul, I have been doing some STUNNING offers on intercoolers recently as customers will testify. I can do the brand name ones for less than the UK made ones, they are bigger normally better.

I can do the Blitz LM for £860, saving over £400 compared with some other traders.

I'll significantly beat anyone elses price.

Good deals!

Where is the Blitz for that price - the USA?

Then I would go for it!

Gaz, yeah Kevin was mentioning the Greddy and Blitz yesterday and mentioned prices around that mark.

I'm so tempted now to go for the FMIC and just get the front resprayed.....

Any deals Gaz if i bought the clear front indicators from you aswell when i pick up the facelift rear lights?

You'd be surprised what we can do now Paul, pop up and we'll talk about getting you one ;)

Paul, I have the HKS R-type but, have not had time with it yet.

However, now that Envy can bring them in at a Great price, I'd go with the 3row.

HTH

Oh, back to your questions - Bling - They can all have the end tanks polished so, no clear fave here.

Value for money.......3row

Performance, well, I have not see a single independent test of all the brand names, so, have to go with what you can find.

All above is IMO :)

Could it be the 7 votes on the poll ?

Or the large install base in the US ?

Or just that great ENVY price......sssshhhh I'm trying for discount for my order (not FMIC btw) ;) :p

Well I'd go for the Blitz, because I have one! It's bigger than everything apart from the Greddy 4 row, and comes with all the bits you need, power steering cooler, smaller header tank, alu hard pipes etc. Only snags are the pipes don't come polished, so you have to do that if you want to, and I found it a bit of a sod to get the drivers side pipe through the hole in the wing and connected up.

Guest Terry S

Can someone ( Gaz?) list the core sizes against the price. This would be a good comparison.

The only test I have ever seen showed an ARC in first place, HKS R type in second, and a Greddy 3 row in third.

Speaking to alot of guys on the US Forum, the whole package with the Greddy is great, you get the full kit.

Also even with the big HKS Type-R, you still need to buy the optional pipes to your turbo's. So the Greddy is the winner :)

This should help...

HKS Type S 23.6 x 11.9 x 2.6 = 730 cubic in = £860

HKS Type R 23.6 x 11.9 x 3.8 = 1067= £1100

Greddy 3 row 23.6 x 11.8 x 3.9 = 1086= £900-1000 TBC

Blitz LM V-Spec 24.3 x 12.0 x 4.0 = 1166= £860

Greddy 4 row 23.6 x 11.8 x 5.2 = 1448= £1000+ TBC

Gaz.
