Wipeout
What does this sensor actually do? I understand there are 2 fitted in the UK spec, one at the turbo, and one in the second cat, how do they work together? I will be going decat and wanted to know whether i should replace them, or if there are any checks/tests i can do to see if they are good or faulty. Thanks. Chris Wilson
The UK and US cars run a crude form of OBD2 diagnostics, and use the 2nd probe, after the cats, to see what has happened to the O2 content post cats. Leave both in situ, my cat pipes for thr UK models have a fiting for the second sensor to go into the 2nd decat pipe, HKS and Blitz et cetera pipes do not. Whatever you do don't cut the wire to the 2nd O2 sensor, or leave it out of the exhaust. There will be a fault code seen if you do. Later full spec OBD2 cars need a bit more trickery if you de cat them, but the Supra is pretty "stupid" in that regard, thank God.
Wipeout
Should i worry about checking them for any signs of damage/ware? Is it something that may need replacing as a matter of course, given it's age? (10Yr OLD Car) Thanks.
Chris Wilson
No, just leave them alone, remove and refit the second one carefully,m they won't stand being knocked about, there's no need to touch the first one during a cat removal.

Wipeout
Cheers Peter. I think i will take CW's advice and leave them alone, and be carefull when removing the second one.
SKI
I have attached a picture of the pipe fitted to my car, it only has one attachement for an o2 sensor, I bought this from the states does it just replace the second cat!? Excuse my ignorance Thanks

Excuse my ignorance Thanks both cats:) the first sensor is before the first cat. The hole in your pipe is for the 2nd sensor
SKI
Thats good news.... It only seems to have one 02 sensor port... Is that OK on the UK TT, presumably the other sensor is further up nearer the turbo (just following from the above comments, shouldn't there be two) Sorry for asking stupid questions!!! Thanks
