Max Headroom
Unless something happens like you loose your job or one of the contributers to your household stops contributing for a serious reason, I'm sorry, but I think choosing to go bankrupt is the lowest thing you can do. You agreed to take on the debt, now because your fed up with paying you want default on the payments? Tough shit. Pay up. Not that it's a pissing contest, but I've accrued more debt than anyone has mentioned so far on here, and still owe a reasonable amount of it, I'm saying this so you know I'm not talking from a moral high ground and I know what it's like to be in debt. But as I was agreeing to the credit, I did a check to make sure I could afford to pay it each month, and leave myself a reasonable amount left over. You didn't do this? Oh well, beans it is again for you tonight! You accepted the credit, now be a man and pay it back. It sucks I know, there's been a few times when I've thought "bugger, I wish I had more spare cash, then I could do X" but I haven't, so I go without. I know some people say you only live once and "f*ck it, I'll just go bankrupt and move on" but I'd rather live my life knowing that I'm as good as my word. Sorry if that offends anyone, that's not my intention, it's just my opinion, which if you don't agree with, then don't agree with it. I'll not force it upon you. Spot on post and being realistic about the whole thing

TLicense
Did you get any redundancy or did it just literally close up and you got nothing?
Bob
I went through a period of depression a few years ago after a bad car accident left me with a f***ed up right knee; like you I thought I could make myself happier by spending money. I got a 0%-offer credit card, then maxxed that out as well. I was sold a £25k loan to consolidate my debts which I'm still trapped in until the end of the 8 years. After I had consolidated my loans, I maxxed my cards out again, resulting in an overall debt of £40k. I had to give up a £25k a year job to go self employed, as I was only just clearing enough money a month to pay the outgoings. And then you end up full-circle, depressed again 'cos of debts and no money. I know it's hard mate, but only YOU can get yourself out of it. Try the Citizen's Advice Bureau - they're free and generally give very good, helpful advice. Whatever you do, do NOT get a card to pay off a card - if you do, transfer the balance then SHRED THEM BOTH. Delete your credit card details from Paypal. DO NOT get a loan to pay a loan - people don't sell you loans to help you, they do it because you're vulnerable and they see a chance to make money out of you. DO cut your living costs - if you are so desperate to keep the Supra, sell the bike and get a £250 shitbox with a tiny engine - use that as a daily driver; this will reduce not only your fuel bills, but also your maintenance bills etc. for the soop. That leaves you with the soop as your weekends/evenings toy I hope you learn from this experience mate, whatever you do PLEASE don't bury your head in the sand. If you keep the soop, the modifying days are over until your debts are reduced. Trust me, when the debts have gone, it will be a like a whole new life - well, as long as you stay sensible and avoid credit cards and loans again! Good luck. After all it's the rest that end up paying for their bad debt one way or another as the card and loan companies will never loose out. If it's debt for 'toys' such as flash motors and motorbikes then it's silly, trying to be flash rather than selling up is not really facing up to the problem. I've had loans in the past, not a bad thing if kept in control but what's with the bankrupt thing? Seems to me that a lot of youngsters get knee deep in the shit with credit without worrying and then tap up the parents or go bankrupt:) Not really the way to start adult life omo. Good luck and stick with it, we all know how easy it is to get credit these days but resist until you've sorted this mess first.
