Dragonball
Press Blurb Octane Boosters By NOS America's Best Octane Booster! Boost the octane rating of the unleaded gas you are using by 2-7 points, no kidding! NOS® offers three potent octane boosters available either for street, off-road or race that will effectively cure any engine "knocks" or "pings" that you may be experiencing. Each 12 ounce bottle can treat 16 gallons of gasoline, and they're friendly to the catalytic converter and O2 sensor. Simply pour the contents into the gas tank the next time you get a fill-up. Recommended for all high performance import and domestic engines, including 2-stroke and marine. Also great for lawn and farm implements that run on gas engines! This stuff really WORKS PART NUMBER DESCRIPTION 083+0174 12002NOS Street formula (6 in a case) Adds 2-3 octane points boost 083+0175 12007NOS Off-road formula (6 in a case) Adds 3-5 octane points boost 083+0176 12010NOS Racing formula (6 in a case) Adds 4-7 octane points boost (also contains nitromethane) Anyone know if this stuff works/any good? Can get hold of it - but no feedback as yet
BigRoy
If I remember rightly its not much better then the stuff sold here:mad: I think your find it only adds a small increase in RON rating. Only way to go is proper race fuel or the Toulene route. I not sure what they mean by 2- 7 points but it defo aint the RON, that would make it far better than Toulene!!? Nitromethane:confused: :flame Dev
Chris Wilson
In my experience none of the stuff you can (legally) buy in little bottles is any good. IMO it is close to being a con. "Octane points"?? Most people might expect a rise of 3 octane points to raise 97 octane to 100 octane, I believe it really means it raises 97 octane to 97.3 octane... Tricky huh? Toluene at around 10% by volume will raise 98 RON to about 100 RON. I use toluene

Have you got any magic juice in stock yet - cant find your thread - want to get some off you! Cheers Paul
Chris Wilson
6 quid a gallon, I have stock, STRICTLY collect only, and bring your own container. It's in 45 gallon drums...
anthonyj
I use Nitrous Formula Race Spec booster in my scooby (not sure if it is the same stuff?) - my tuner (Bob Rawle - very well respected in the Impreza community) says it is very good stuff and does provide measurable gains as well as a bit of protection. He also says a lot of the other stuff is rubbish ! This stuff actually states that it can "..raise the octane level by 60 points or 6 RON". On the basis that my car runs loads of advance, and doesn't knock and hasn't blown up, I'd recommend it although it is a hell of a lot more expensive per gallon than Toluene!!! Web site is at http://www.nitrous.com.au/ and there are quite a few places where you can get it here.

Wez
I used the NOS octane booster on my trackday just to be on the safe side and never had any problems and the car ran nice even with it getting hammered all day but in the future I think I will add some Toulene instead. :flame Dev I may do some experimenting with my mapper and get a map setup for a 10% - 15% mix. Is there a maximum % that you shouldn`t really go over?
dangerous brain
I used millers oils Octane plus in my N/A soop it says on it gives 20 point boost to fuel and in the small print a raise of 2 octane RONs. It does make a bit of difference to my soop at low revs making it feel a lot more responsive to the throttle and kicking it up to the higher rev ranges quicker. In my book thats a little more power surely?
