d9988
I've ordered all the parts for BPU and will be making the upgrades shortly. Other than a boost gauge, are there any other gauges that are important for monitoring?
merckx
Wideband O2 air/fuel for the BPU car.
Carl
Gauges are great to look at now and again and if something feels wrong the gauge is a good indicator, but in truth, when it does go wrong, your never staring at that gauge to see it coming. Carl Get electronic gauges with tell tale recall, record facility and also warning lights. I went for a boost gauge, EGT gauge and a water temp gauge due to the dash one being VERY crap and always reading medium. Now I have the Wideband gauge and TBH rarely look at the EGT gauge. BURT
to a degree having a wideband is pointless imo.. as unless you are planning to fit an saf-c or something to contrll the fuel the gauge is giving you info you have no cntrll over, and at a cost of £250 approx its a quite expensive gauge you do not need

BURT
yes fella this is true but it only gives you reading across all six cylinders, and yes it will help you to see that you are running lean, so that you can then back off, but unless you are gonna spend the money on fuelling components too you cant adjust the fueling prob its worth less.. thats all i meant fella.. i was BPU for a while and aslong as you do the fuel pump and remove the dampner, and dont wind your boost up too much, you will be ok,
chilli
yeah I see what you are saying, especially that it is a reading averaged across all cylinders - so it isn't totally fool proof it's a nice comfort guage though anyway and good if you might go further in the future

Nic
As said already, go for boost gauge and either a wideband O2 gauge or an Exhaust Gas Temp gauge. The EGT gauges are cheaper and will let you know if EG temps are too high, the O2 gauge will give you more acturate view but they are more expensive. If you would like prices for any gauges let me know.
d9988
Thanks guys lots of good info. So far I am planning on boost gauge, air/fuel ratio, and EGT. I've also seen a lot of info about water temp gauge, and oil pressure/temp gauges. Are they worth purchasing or should the above 3 gauges be sufficient for BPU? Also, anyone tried Glow shift gauges from ebay? Wondering if they are any good
