I get this too, Toyota supposedly checked and tightened all my subframe bolts on a recent service (no I'm not convinced). When you say LSD, is that LSD performing normally, or LSD that is shagged? It's always made a slight clunk in that situation, but it seems worse of late.

I haven't got one so don't know exactly but remember it being discussed about the same time. Something to do with a tight turn and the wheels scrabbling as the diff does not allow enough difference in movement.

Try the search.

Have the cars with this got lowered springs? Sometimes they move slightly. I have had it in the past with various cars. May also be duff ARB mounts.

I get this too. Seems to happen most when the road surface is a little bit wet. Feels like one wheel is slipping slightly?

My noise comes from the front, so it aint my LSD.

:conf: 4WD Supra?

I could almost creak mine at will buy braking hard, flooring it - only upto 40ish then standing on the brakes and it would then clunk. This was in addition to the parking speed creaks.

I get this but not that bad...full lock and you try to move and feels like both wheels slip to the outside a little bit.but more of a jump sensation then a slip.....and its from the front as well...

Had this on my old car...it turned out to be the steering rack was on its way out....hopefully not same on this car

No, it feels like the front wheels are slipping slightly. I can feel it through chassis. Only ever happens on full lock, when parking or reversing out of my driveway.

Something I have noticed as well is that when manouvering on a smooth concrete surface (like a multi story carpark) the tyres squeak like hell. I've been told this can be down to the "Ackerman" angles not being quite right. This is the difference in angles that the front wheels turn through when cornering (because the outer wheel describes a larger diameter circle than the inner, so the outer doesn't have to turn quite to tightly). I was wondering whether it might be something to do with this?

I get exactly the same problem - a big clunk when I reverse on full lock.

Used to happen on a mates old car (Ford Capri - so a forerunner of the Supe then:p ) - turned out to be worn suspension top mounts.

Don't know if it could be the same on the Supe though.

Still sounds like suspension bolts need tightening. Some of those suckers go up to 160+ft/lb so unless you've got a really beefy torque wrench and enough room under the car to swing it you can't check they are tight *enough*. I checked mine, the main bolt was less than 100ft/lb, I got it to about 130ft/lb with the space/leverage I could get on axle stands, and then snapped the extension bar I was using. The clunk was diminished but stilll there. Got the garage to do them all to the right figures and the clunk has gone and not returned. And I used to get it every time I used the car due to backing out down the driveway and turning right full lock. So it's worth a try...

Capri Supra - are you on crack :p

I might get my handy mechanic chappy to give it a once over and see what his opinion is. I've had it ever since I bought the car nearly 2 years ago. Thought it was normal.

The clunk your all talking about sounds like the problem i have on my car.

The noise i get is from my brakes.

If i move forward slowly whilst braking and then reverse i get a clunk noise from the brakes. Same if i go reverse to forward.

I was told by a few people that its my disks sliping slightly due to the fact that i dont have a little screw that goes through the disk to the hub to stop them doing this?????

Awaits to be corrected:D

i get this too, noise is defiatley from the front and comes from the side on the outside of the turn radius. more noticable in the wet with what feels like the tyre slipping, also worse on new tyres.

my suspension is really low, just had the tracking done and it's still doing it.

Could it be something to do with the geometry of the front suspension when on full lock in reverse that causes it?

i think i will be giving the suspension/subframe bolts a tickle with the torque wrench.
