garethr
Don't... unless the propshaft is disconnected or the driven wheels are off the ground.
Lucifer
Its because the oil pump in the gearbox isnt workign but yet the TC and box is turning.
Jake
In an emergency you can tow most autos a short distance as long as you keep the speed down to a minimum. Avoid doing it at all if possible though.
paul mac
i'me sure i read somewhere 30 miles at low speed max
Pig
I have heard its a big dont. Dont know why, if it were a really short distance i would put it in N and go for it! (mine got towed home by pheonix when it blew up, only a few miles) if they did it, it must be ok for short distances.
MrRalphMan
A few miles at low speed should be fine, but not 30.. I wouldn't of thought.

I wouldn't of thought. i think your right, i seem to think that might have been the figure for my Fiat supermirafiori 25 years ago, my memorys going, anyway i think we have reached an agreement towing is bad

Sharpie
but what if you're on a track in the gravel needed a tow out ? Mr T also goes on to say exactly what Jake says in post #5 above.
Mike M
I remember when someone crashed into our hire car in America, the recovery guy started the engine before towing it away. Makes sense now if there is an oil pump in there but not good if the engine has died.
TrickTT
You could always remove the propshaft if you've got to tow it any distance, its not that hard to unbolt it and sling it in the boot
dangerous brain
You could always remove the propshaft if you've got to tow it any distance, its not that hard to unbolt it and sling it in the boot Unless your car is lowered to the floor like most supes about these days are

Jive
ahh so i should be ok then ... now all i need to do is locate the towing eyes ! Well I had mine towed yesterday after it stopped on me, towing eyes are located underneath the indicators towards the middle of the headlights. Left it in N and crawled round to the garage which was approx half a mile away and will also get it towed from the garage to my home approx 2 miles this week. Will keep the speed down and pray that it's ok when it's fixed.
