penguin
you need some kind of simple carb to get your glycogen stores back to normal straight after a workout - something like an apple... else you run the risk of going into a catabolic state (er... were muscle is broken down for energy)... oh and always have a healthy dose of protein within an hour of a workout for maximum benifit
mikeyb10supra
always load up with my little home made protein drink, pint of milk, 4 tablespoons of powdered milk and nesquick.....works a treat and beats paying heaps for crap protein shakes that are loaded with sugar + minimal fat

AJI
has it been a while since you last worked out Mikey ? sometimes when I have a break period and miss a few sessions at the gym, its hard getting back into the rythm of it all. Phosphogen HP+ is the supplement that I use, seems to do a good job of keeping me alive when I'm on a mission on the weights.
Bob
i use flavoured whey - 1/2 pint of milk - around 50g of good protein in every glass of goodness I was told that any more than 30g is a waste, as the body can only break down that much per 3 hours
andrew7
I train with a mate in his garage, it was quite warm but could hardly walk home after, nearly passed out twice and had to sit down....he is a real hardcore lifter though Mikey, When you taste your own sweat what does it taste of?....Salts right?...or put another way..minerals.... Do you take a mineral suppliment mate?... You definitely should if you train, jog or exercise regularly.. The other thing that is very helpful is L-Glutamine. Take one or two spoonfuls in water an hour before training. It achieves two things: 1. When you exercise your small intestine pulls glutamine from your muscles. This is one of the reasons you ache afterwards. So if the glutamine is already in your intestine it doesn't sap it from the muscles concerned. 2. Glutamine helps the muscles repair more quickly, so you have negligable aching the next day.... Lastly, remember, moderation is the key, in training or otherwise...stress your engine too much and it can blow up permanent...
