I must say that the prices of these twin turbos seem all over the place. I suppose modifications confuse the issue somewhat because they (presumably) only add value to a car if they have been proffesionaly executed using high quality parts. I don't see the point in paying the same money for a manual that is three years and 18,000 older than an auto! Joe Or you could buy a standard 93 car with 50,000 and still got the speed limiter in place and not have the VVTI tuning issues and get a nice set of 18" alloys all for £10,000 Dude:flame Dev
Gough
So where could I get one of them then Dude? Hmm, isn't your car the one on Miami Rice's website? They're a bit far away from me but 50,000 miles + nice 18" alloys for £10k ....... One thing though, a 96 facelift wouln't have the VVTI engine because they were introduced in 98'..weren't they? Joe ps that quote from you've got from Chris Wilson put me off UKs!

Guest GRM
Hi Joe Have you bought it yet ? Re security, I had a Cobra cat1 alarm fitted for about 200 quid and it seems to do the job well. Even if you leave your car unlocked the imobiliser cuts in after about forty seconds. Most insurance companies insist on a cat1 alarm anyway. dangerous brain
One thing you expressed more than one interest in the aero variant. Well unless you replace the gearbox yourself you won't get a manual TT aero!! The amount of TT aero's is being slowly reduced (just ask Hisupe) so prices of these tend to be strong. As far as I am aware all the GZ models have leather as standard which is the spec of all aero TT's. UK motors generally have more history with them (thats generally cos they have done that many more miles lol) but good j-specs do come with history as well. Prices vary heavily as some people need to get rid of their cars quickly others love them so much they are unrealistic about their value. Also some other non specialist traders get them in that have no idea of the cars real value and following and can be picked up cheap. As far as security is concerned a decent immobiliser will stand you in good stead. I have a sat tracking setup on mine thats never been tested. The guys are right though most twats don't fook with your soop. Only evidence of vandalism is prior to me owning it. Shop about a bit and seriously my advice keep an eye on this board BradB sold his for a snip at 7.5k for a right nice motor.
Geezabloke
Welcome to the club Goodluck with whatever you choose as you willenjoy no matter what it is! The Auto / Manual debate is fiercly fought by those on both sides as is the J spec / UK spec debate. I personally prefer Auto's as they are such a smooth refined box, and they are actually better for drag racing if this is your thing? UK's also have a lot going for them, but again try before you buy. Just dont be put off without trying all you can. At your budget you have a large choice although as summer comes the Aeros may increase slightly in price? One point to think of is the Mods, they cost a lot more to carry out than to buy a car with them already done? Although do check any mods have been carried out proffessionally! Re: Security, Matt Harwood is the man to seem. I bought one of the complete steering wheel cover / locks which seems very good for the £65 ish pounds. Again, Good Luck and hope to see you at some meets / shows soon. Dave AKA Geeza :flame Dev
Gough
Just checked this thread and found some more posts, so thanks for that I have mentioned this already but the good news is that my Supra is in the bag (so to speak), and should arrive in approx 7-8 weeks. It's a 93' GZ (auto) with just 23-and-a-bit thousand miles guaranteed. I hadn't realised it was possible to get that sort of mileage on a ten-year old car but I've been assured its genuine (BIMTA certified). Ok so this is great, but then I had a call from the importer, and he informs me that there is something I should know about the car..... oh dear here we go, I'm thinking..... but then he said "there is a good chance that it is in fact an aerotop!" The dealer in Japan described the car as a GZ but suprisingly hadn't mentioned anything about it being an aerotop. On closer inspection of the pictures you can just about see two lines in the right places suggesting that it is, however, this will be verified by him within the next few days hopefully. So what do you think chaps, Aerotop or not?? edited because I cant spell

dangerous brain
Difficult to tell with the car being black but I am thinking not aero. Its nice to have a motor with so little miles on it though. Its amazing how that happens.

Gough
er yep that was me! (before I heard about the possiblility of it being an aerotop) Any other thoughts anyone? Thanks, Joe

Gough
I'm inclined to agree with you Jake, I also thought the cables were casting a shadow over the roof, but the importer seems to think otherwise. It would be great if it is an aerotop but if not then I'm still v. happy, hopefully I'll find out soon
Terminator
Originally posted by Gough Thanks for the welcomes, and thanks for the advice, terminator. Has Matt Harwood got a website for car security? Joe Not that I am aware of, but email him from the BBS and I amsure he will help you. He is a very busy guy as so many club members take their cars to him for security and ice.
