Terminator
I use a cigarette lighter socket lead for my Road Angel. I have been swapping the unit between four cars and failed to check the tightness of the end of the plug. Today I pulled the plug out of another car to stick in my MKIV and shot off down the A14, at the first camera I got no signal. Pulled over and checked it and the end on the plug was missing. I now realise I don't read the speedo any more, I drive by GPS speed. When I got home I found the tip, locking collar, spring and fuse still in the lighter socket in the other car, as I tried to retired the spring it touched both terminals, on the permanently live socket, glowed red and disintegrated. Just thought I would share and advise if you are using lighter socket powered items you should check for tightness of knurled nut/collar variants. Nick_TC
That could have been a seriously expensive failure. Good job you we're on home turf
SkyJawa
I've noticed you need to tighten it! BTW, I'm the same with speed, always drive by GPS speedo on my RA!!!!
