Cigarette lighter plug powered items warning.

I use a cigarette lighter socket lead for my Road Angel. I have been swapping the unit between four cars and failed to check the tightness of the end of the plug. Today I pulled the plug out of another car to stick in my MKIV and shot off down the A14, at the first camera I got no signal. Pulled over and checked it and the end on the plug was missing. I now realise I don't read the speedo any more, I drive by GPS speed.

When I got home I found the tip, locking collar, spring and fuse still in the lighter socket in the other car, as I tried to retired the spring it touched both terminals, on the permanently live socket, glowed red and disintegrated.

Just thought I would share and advise if you are using lighter socket powered items you should check for tightness of knurled nut/collar variants.
