Gamer
Anyone know of any rescue centers or anything for kittens in and around Portsmouth area? Don't mind travelling a bit but not too far. Ideally a good one that vaccinates etc. before selling them to people. Don't mind paying for them really as long as it's not loads of money. I'm sure I read a site a few months back about having an interview with them, and they come and visit your home to make sure it's suitable before letting you have their cats! Can't find their site now though. Bit late on this thread but have you considered trying your local Chinese take away. I am sure they should have a few kittens or cats knocking about. tbourner
2nd vid is my leg........ honest! They were attacking my feet all night, had to sleep with the covers over me which was a bit hot!! Thought I'd make use of it and film them. Everyone has been round today and said they want kittens!
Kittyclaws
They are lovely, one good tip that one of our friends told us is that if you catch one of them scratching the chair/sofa etc, you stop them, say no, then rub their paws on the scratch post, i thought it would'nt work myself, but afetr a while, they get the message, also best to put the post in a walkway etc, so they will have a little scratch on the way past
Schtuv
And some cute videos: Aw - aren't they sweet. Get lots of pics while they're that size, as they grow really quickly from 1 to 6 months! Good to the the WWE style pro-wrestling ... Have they learnt to drift on the wood floor yet?
tbourner
No we need to buy them a ping pong ball I think! They are brilliant wrestlers, Scamp is a little fighter!! Once they're in that mood I love grabbing their tummy cos they grab and bite your hand it's really cute - can't wait for them to grow up and get bigger sharper claws. Im keeping 2 of them but need to find a home for the 3rd one. Only 3 weeks old so a long way to go yet.
jim_supra
Very cute cats, especially in the first picture! I've been thinking of getting one again but I now live too close to a road, so couldn't risk one getting run over.
tbourner
We're keeping them in the house till they've at least been vaccinated (12 weeks), but probably till they've been chopped as well (at least the girl!! ), that happens at about 6 months so hopefully they'll be quite a bit bigger then and won't be so easily beaten up by the other cats in the area. The people we got them from have had 4 litters from 2 cats, all because they haven't got them snipped in time!! They planned to then they come home pregnant again!!! Schtuv
can't wait for them to grow up and get bigger sharper claws. When they're young it's an automatic reaction to use claws that they can't control ... they pretty soon get used to controling them, though. My girls can pretty much manage when they use them now, except when they panic ("Help I'm falling") or see something attackable ("STRING!") ... Kittens claws are at the top of my 'worries' list currently. Something to do with having a rear projection TV with a plastic screen. I wince every time they go near it Random unsolicited advice time: Invest in some nail clippers (I use standard human ones on my kittens) for when the scratching post just isn't enough to keep them down. Remember to be careful to only clip the tips of the nail, though. The pink quick at the top of the nails contains a nerve, and can really hurt them. Oh yeah - get some kevlar body armour, too.
