Digsy
I've used Castrol Magnatec 10w40 in my NA for about 100,000 miles without any issues. If your car isn't modded then you don't need to use "the best oil you can afford" - assuming of course that there is always a direct relationship between how much something costs and how good it is. However, I wouldn't use Halfords own make either. Most people on here use a fully synthetic 5w30. The book recommends 10w30, but I can't find any decent stuff off the shelf in that grade. Alex
When you say out of oil...do you mean it was about to hit the bottom mark on the dip stick? Or do you mean it was even lower? The dip stick marks represent about 1 pint. So to fill from the bottom to the top mark (about an inch) should take about a pint/half litre. Just don't overfill it as it will fook it up.
