Daston
Hi My other half is going to do a bankers draft of 25k from natwest however because out local branch isnt the one she set up her account from its going to take twice as long. Now surly thats like BK saying as you didnt have your first wopper here its going to take twice as long! Second thing is her account statement shows the funds in her account yet her dad (who put it there) has been told it hasnt cleared from his end yet. Now in my mind if it's on the statement it's there to spend
SuperSupra
No quite as simple as that my friend, the money will show in the recipients account the day of it being paid in, irrespective of the method, however, if you check the available funds it will not have cleared yet and thus not be available to spend. That, for some reason is just how banks work - believe me it's not the first time someone has asked about that! With regards to the bankers draft, yeah that's fairly standard I'm afraid as far as I know - for some reason most banks are still in the mindset that people don't move house, and you will use the same branch for eternity. They have to cross reference it to your original account opening documents to check signature, details etc. I believe HSBC is the only company who does not do this but I may be wrong on that. ivan
While the money's in transit nobody owns it (except the bank/bs) so nobody gets any interest (except the bank/bs). At a guess...
Jake
Sounds like bollocks to me. To pay the balance on my blue car, I drew out 16500 in cash from my account the same day it was transferred from another account - from my local Nat West branch which is in a different county to the Nat West my account is actually with. All I had to do was show some ID and answer a few security questions. 20mins later I'm walking down the high street with 16.5k worth of £20notes in a carrier bag, feeling quite nervous! xksupra
I agree with Jake, I had no problem going into Natwest where I worked and drawing out a Bankers draft, done within 20 mins, I think the only other thing they had to do was ring my branch.
