not saying he should have to, merely trying to point out a possible solution for DB...........

Sorry.. no offence meant..

Just after having bought two cars off DB in the past and they have been absolute pleasures without any suprises, I hate to see this happen to one of the nicest people around.

I read this straight off the DVLA website

If you have previously had a registration document or certificate for your vehicle in your name, and there is no change in vehicle or personal details, you may apply for a duplicate registration certificate over the telephone. You should contact DVLA customer enquiries (vehicles) on 0870 240 0010. A fee of £19 is payable. You will need a debit or credit card for the payment. You will receive the registration certificate within 10 working days.

Thats what had me beleive I couldn't just get a new one myself. If its that easy I'll just do it myself. Its the uncertainty the situation has stirred up that causes me bother, a bother I wouldn't want to push off onto someone else. Cheers for the advice fellas I'll try and call the dvla tomorrow (unfortunately some 08 numbers don't work from either my mobile or my home number).

I am still looking for the documentation after our move, as you can see its all present in the pictures.

The car is 100% straight and used to belong to a member on this forum.

so you were the owner then Martin?

if so why can't you (or the previous owner, whoever's name was on the V5) just order a replacement V5 from the DVLA?

Because he doesn't own the car anymore!

If DB just sends off for one and states that he never got one with the car then it's usually the PO that gets hit with the £19 fine.

Job done :D

Depends on how you call owner. I bought it with a blown headgasket from a forum member sure, I then subbed it out to be fixed, and then sold it. So legally yes I owned it, but didnt drive it as my own per say.

no, but he DID own it before DB bought it and subsequently didn't get the V5! hence he should be able to get a replacement V5! :D :p
