Ewen
Had my car RRed yesterday, below par result. Im totally stock except for Nur cat back. (two non-VVTI TTs with stock setup got 300 and 320 the same day) Anyone spot anything odd on the enc. printouts ? Triton say theres not anything obviously wrong but have invited me back next week to have a look at boost etc. The SMIC looks fine, and within my limited tech scope, I cant see any problems with pipework etc and the car feels as fast now as when I first got her. They did have a problem with the Tiptronic box on the RR, and ended up doing the run in second which may have given a duff figure?? but I want to ensure that I dont carry a problem on when I go BPU soon. terribleturner
2nd gear?? Im not expert but i don't think your gonna get a very accurate figure to start with. Have you got all the printouts from both runs?

Have you got all the printouts from both runs? No, only what I posted....they did about five runs in total but they were a trifle bizzarre to say the least. The guy wasnt happy as he couldnt lock it in gear so had to select the gear he wanted in manual mode and let the Tiptronic box change up to the gear then run if that makes sense. I dont see why he couldnt do that in third, but in the end he said that was the best he could do.
Whitesupraboy2
Ewen im no help. But if those figures are right, we can go out for a spirited drive and see if im still up your arse

Rayman
Maybe worth getting it dynoed somewhere else ,supra specialist, seems the dyno guy wasnt sure what he was doing from what im reading!

Whitesupraboy2
actually i just thought i noticed in someones pic i didnt see any cooling fans, was there any in use to blow cool air at the intercooler?
Ewen
actually i just thought i noticed in someones pic i didnt see any cooling fans, was there any in use to blow cool air at the intercooler? Yes, it all looked pretty well set up. No problems with the manual cars and Andys (Soundwave) auto.
lockys96
god it was a big fan!!!! but ewen, they ran yours in 2nd gear? isnt a fmic meant to give a bigger surface area and cooling. i was up like 15hp over yours

I think the tester was worried that the car was kicking down, and took it easy but what do I know. Yup, you were 15 up on mine, and Andys auto was 35 up on mine, also run in second. Chris I think was expected to be well up on mine. Surely peak power is around 6000 rpm not '8000 rpm' as my graph seems to indicate. 8000 rpm ???? lockys96
that is weird, my peak power is at 5,600rpm i think
Bobbeh
Ewen, just get it done elsewhere.. I think your trip was a waste of time sadly.
terribleturner
You have two different graphs there. usually you'd get both those for ONE run. Shame your in Dorset. If you can do the trip give Charlie at Surrey Rolling Road a shout. He knows what he's doing and will give you a more reliable run on thee rollers. SoundWave
He did have trouble with mine to start with as the wheels had slipped and it had gone in to snow mode. After I showed him how to turn that and the traction control off it seemed ok. I did wonder why he ran it in 2nd gear as well. Maybe that was to minimise/stop kickdown..? I think the two graphs are for the same run - one shows the bhp at the fly and the other at the wheels. I could well be mistaken though!! I think he did clear the screen for yours as well as he did so many runs it was getting quite full! It was a hugh fan! Would like to nick that for use in the office on a hot day! We were all given the two sheets....they are from the same run. The printout format seems to be stating est max power at flywheel on the power / torque sheet and the max power at the wheels on the other sheet. Travelling to someone who can RR a Tiptronic isnt an issue, just that I planned to RR before and after BPU at the same venue...would have been good to do this 'just down the road'. My main question in this thread was wether you guys thought the result was iffy / bizzarre...I take it as yes
JohnA
Looks like it wasn't strapped tight, or the rollers were not in proper contact with the tyres. Do those people know what they're doing?

Remember the VVTI - that'll raise your peak power rev point. Also remember that tiptronic Supras are rare and a slightly unknown quantity. Lastly, a cat-back won't raise power much if any, so 280ish on a stock engine is actually right on the button...it was only the UK spec that did 320 stock. Ewen
Just got proper read-outs in the post this morning Peak power @ 8,800 rpm, max revs of 9,600 rpm lol

The car seems fine and pulls like a train, second turbo comes on fine. I only went on for a figure that could be used for reference, before BPU. I like the guys at Triton, and they seemed to have fixed my TPS problem (so far so good). My point is that even though this shoot-out was a bit of fun, they are telling me that my car produces x power at ridiculous rpm...Soundwaves J spec auto did 320 and produced a fairly normal graph, mine did 285 @ 8,800 rpm. I cant use that as a bench mark for going BPU, its just not right. If stock J Specs put out 280 ish bhp thats fine, all I want is a believable set of figures to go on with....Im going to talk to Triton when Im back off holiday to see if theres any point in trying again, but Im amazed that they didnt at least spot that these graphs were running at Honda VTEC rpms. This thread doesnt really have much technical merit, so MODS feel free to delete.
Ark
Actually Ewen, as a spectator, I was sure you're car was revving significantly higher than any of the others I watched...it sounded like it anyway. I can't quantify that of course.
Alex
The VVTI's rev limit is 7200 as opposed to the pre vvti's 6850.

I was sat in the car for the last couple of attempts, and he backed off just over 7,000...dont know what he did before that
