A friend if mine left another friends house on wednesday night to get food from a takeaway a couple of miles away. A very competent and carefull motorcyclist. He never came back. A car had overtaken on cross hatchings on a blind bend. Poor kid never stood a chance. So i've just been to lay some flowers at the scene. Parked in a gateway well off the road with my hazards on and my hi-vis vest on just in case. Car comes belting round the corner on the cross hatchings overtaking WHILST I'M FECKING STOOD THERE LAYING FLOWERS!!!!!! Made me so angry! Any how, moral of the story.....please take care if you ride a bike cos as you well know, most of the time its not you, its the twat in the car that cant drive.

Really sorry mate.

Take it easy Jezzybabes

My sympathy goes out to his family and friends

Front page of todays mercury mate. 2 bikers on the same bend in as many weeks. :( Stood there was quite chilling. You cant comprehend that 100 yards away everything was fine, then some idiot ends a life pointlessly.

sorry to hear that mate :(

I personally witnessed a serious motorcycle accident today, going to post up a new thread about it in a bit

great fun but dangerous toys at the best of times, let alone with all the drivers out to get you

very sad mate, in my youth i was into tuning lambretas, 0-60 in about 3.5 seconds and i could slide the rear wheel for fun i did some very silly things on them but met my nemesis in the form of an off duty police women who didn't even f*****g look at me when she pulled out of the junction, i was pootling along at 30 mph and she smashed my leg to bits, i was off work 9 months and didn't even get an apology, i now drive autos and will never get back on 2 wheels again, it is frightening to think how many people know someone who was killed on a bike

Bikes, they're great fun, you can be the best rider in the world, but it only takes one idiot other road user and its all over. If you ride a bike, carry a donor card. Sounds harsh I know, but that's the way it is.

My thoughts to your pals family jez.

Indeed, the main reason I never be a biker.

Thats just awful...i have a very close freind who has just got into bikes and it worries me sick when i hear this.

Im so sorry ..yet another young life...it makes me angry to hear this...!

Also want to say that, I hear of so many young people taking up motorcycling because owning a decent car at 18 is so expensive on insurance, my nephew wanted a motorcycle at one stage, but we managed to talk him out of it.

No way would i ride a bike with the idiot car drivers i see on the roads where i live...

Condolences to his family

Sorry to hear this Jez.

I always wondered why bikers drove around with their lights on during the day before I learned to drive. Now I've been driving for a good 12 years, I can understand why - the quality of driving and lack of awareness of other road users displayed by some people leaves me speechless.

Sorry to hear the bad news about your friend jezzy.

I've been brought down twice by other peoples incompetent driving. When i was 17 a car pulled out between two parked cars on a 60 limit road. To avoid him i took to the verge, hit a telegraph pole, broke leg/arm/collar bone/ribs.

A few years later riding through town (30mph) a guy pulls up at a junction to my left, i saw him look in my direction and then he just turns right in front of me. I tried to go around him but BANG!... He t-boned me sending me superman style over his bonnet. Thankfully at 30mph wearing good gear it's not too bad. Worsed injury was where my leg got crushed by his car against the bike.

I know this is not the same as overtaking on cross hatched areas, but it's the same in that you really do have to look out for other peoples stupidity, especially on a motorcycle with your cloaking device activated.

Once again, sorry for your mate.
