trooper
Bad news, the supe failed it's MOT on emmisions. The CO readings were way too high at 2.63% and not even close to a pass. The main cat was put back in . Any ideas to get it to pass as it is now an emergency!!!

trooper
could be the sensor I guess. I will look at it and get it checked by Toyota.
colsoop
could be the sensor I guess. I will look at it and get it checked by Toyota. I wouldn't use Toyota fella, they are expensive and not really the best guys to use. You can have a look at the sensor yourself it doesn't take much effort. Have a search for o2 sensor you should find a little guide. I sprayed the bolts with wd40 a couple of hours before i removed it just to make sure it undone easier. It is about 10 minutes work to remove. A new o2 sensor is about £80. Clean it in lemon juice overnight then spray with brake cleaner to remove the lemon residue then refit. Resetting the ecu is even easier, remove the 2 fuses in the engine bay fuse box. Before you put the car in for an MOT make sure the 2nd cat is up to temperature, take the car for a run just before hand. If that doesn't work, put a post up in members chat asking for a friendly MOT tester
MarkTheBoy
I agree with above, take it for a good thrash before the mot, get the cats good and hot. Also something that has helped me in the past is chucking a bottle of that fuel additive in you tank (redex, nitrox, I can't remember what its called)... I know it sounds like bulls**t but it does actually help your emmisions a bit. Mine just passed its MOT yesterday... double decat going in tomoz
Ruff_Rider
Can a Supra with a cat-back exhaust and a double de-cat pipe pass an MoT? Curently have a cat-back exhaust with second de-cat, but looking at buying a new exhaust with double de-cat.
trooper
the guys at Toyota are going to check it over tomorrow so I hope they can solve the problem. If not...
trooper
bad news I'm afraid. The Toyota guys couldn't get the emissions down either. They checked all the sensors but the CO was still 2.6%. They sent me packing with a bottle of fuel additive and told me to go for a thrash and come back tomorrow. Can't see it passing though to be honest. Any other suggestions???
