Paul Whiffin
I've removed a few, why you changing yours is it buggered?
paul_y3k
yep, when you turn the steering wheel you get loads of nasty noise, and it's almost impossible to steer the car when it's hardly moving. Was in the garage the other week for a pre mot check and this was the only item it failed on. Mechanic there said it was the pump, although they wont quote on fixing it as it's too big a job ???? hence myself and my mate who looks after jet enginees going to have a go ! Paul Whiffin
Not being funny but have you checked the fluid level? They do exactly what your saying when the fluid is low...... Its not that bad a job to change though anyway
mawby
What about air in the system? On that note, what's the procedure for bleeding the system? I did a quick search and just found a reference to turning the wheel left and right and topping up until the noise stops. Is that all it is? Paul Whiffin
Thats about it yep, I normally just leave the car running with the cap undone but still in the reservoir otherwise it splashes everywhere, then wiggle the steering wheel left to right whilst topping it up. Pretty simple procedure.
