Gareth Davies
May as well post this to keep the thread at least consistent if not entirely off topic... There is a sweet nothing you can do about someone publishing "your" IP i'm afriad they're actually publically owned (ish). Now if he'd published personal information (which he hasn't) THEN you could do what you fealt like. I don't recall what the disclaimer when you register says... IP's aren't, and never have been personal property on ANY level, by their very nature they're exceptionally public. The threat of 'hacking' is open to all of us, and hinting at an IP shows nothing. Jeez I (and probably Dean) thought it would be doing you guys a favour! And unless i'm mistaken it looks like it's recorded your IP wrong anyway! You had plenty of time to complain before he did it. Tell you what how about I post a how-to on getting "your" IP without going near the BBS? This is worst case a little rude (and i'm sorry I mentioned it), now stop scare mongering. Ain't 'hacking' on any level, simply the nature of the internet. Now I know what you're trying to get at, but I fear if you've had problems at the LSOC about 'posting ip's' it should have been a simple case. But you're right dealing with a writ is an annoying / expensive activity, but for this level of 'infringment' it'd just waste everyones time! And at the end of the day would all be at the cost of the dote that started it... (hope you got your LSOC pep good). I seriously doubt i've told you anything new, and you're no doubt aware of your err 'selective' interpretation of the 'law' in this area. Ain't got 10 years 'Internet' experiance but I do know funnily enough know how this particular element works... Anywho no harm intended, or done... now could we lay off the A&M issue, if you're going to diss them make sure it's on their own personal merits
Mark Ayling
This is, after all, a car enthusiasts/owners forum - why can't we keep things related to the subject matter rather than descending into personal jibes (again)? Everyone's entitled to disagree with others' opinions, whether on a technical or personal level - but on here any counter-arguments should be limited to the subject matter and not an excuse for a dig at someone...? Sorry to rant but it does all get a bit tiresome at times.... Smile!
Guest Mycroft
Yep, lifes too short and the roads are long and for the taking. I have my point of view and will voice it occasionally, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong, disagree with me, but don't take the p1ss or insult my plea to stop taking the p1ss with a clown (is it?) writhing on its back. Back on thread, I did post a request for info on auto self levelling has no one seen something suitable.

Eric Kasir
Add to that if a would be hacker has to wait for your IP to be published on a BBS, he really aint much cop and doesn't pose that much of a threat to you. What you want to worry about is having a static IP (as BT now give with their home business package), and leaving your machine connected without a firewall. You will then find yourself being 'swept' along with the whole subnet you are on, and if you aint protected, thats where you will get into trouble. DArby
As both Ash & Mycroft registered with one IP address and both of their recent posts used different IP's i'm sure we can be confident that you are both having dynamically allocated IP's issued by your ISP. Had you both been using identical IP's as your initial registration i may have considered not posting them as it would have been an indication that you had a static address. Though had this been the case, i'm sure you would have been well protected !! Dean.
Guest Ash
So what's the point, Dean? What is all this "as Gareth requested" crap? Who is this notion of a "Gareth"? Am I being led to believe you get contacted by some entity, requesting that a pair of IP's be publically disclosed that you cannot refuse for some reason? I'm confused. Okay, that's not hard. But tell me, is this some kind of new game that came about while I've been busy trying to sort out some major problems going on in my life? What, do we get a prize if we get it right or something? Ah, now I get it, it's one of those IT kinda things... guess which pair is being revealed this, what, month/week/day? If so, only valid question is, is there any prize money? Because I could really do with that right now. Yours, J
THOR Racing
Can we stop this continual bickering. I'm trying to post info on the conversion to HID headlamps and it's getting lost in the noise! http://www.trlperformance.com/personal/HID/HID.html and the EL wire conversion http://www.trlperformance.com/personal/EL_Dash/el_dash.html Pete

Branners
okay, if you all want an argument then I have made a thread especially for you. The discussion about IP addresses must be moved there now. Any further posts about IP in this thread will be deleted. http://www.rolec.co.uk/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=14&topic=528 JB
Ibrar Jabbar
Quote: from TRL Performance on 7:12 am on April 3, 2002[br]>Ohh. Nice lights by the way Pete - thanks for the thread !! Don't know if I dare mention that I can convert the air con unit LED's from the yucky green into blue or red or yellow (which is not special on it's own as it's been mentiuoned before) but I've also converted the bulbs as well and used electroluminescent wire to illuminate the legends. So now at least one car out there has a completely red dash. Mine will be ice blue soon. (I'm not a Nova blue neon type) but a subtle change of dash colour is just the ticket for the dated green light interior. Oh and as for hiding my HID controllers (inverters), looking at the pictures there's fat chance of that ;-) If you want to know more on the dash conversion then be patient and photos will be in about two weeks. Pete I have also changed my green LED's to blue, just need to sort something out with the backlighting of the buttons. I will put some pictures up on my website this weekend. Pete, Is the EL wire available in blue and where from?? Thanks.

THOR Racing
Yes the E.L. wire is available in Blue and that's what I'm going to fit to my car shortly. Farnell would be your easiest place to purchase it. The RED E.L. wire is part number 142-220 and 'll have to look the blue up again. It's about £10/m so not cheap, plus the inveter is about £20 but the effect is amazing. I've got a picture of the blue air climate control somewhere if I can find it I'll post it to my site. Ibrar Jabbar
Thanks for that Pete, I will check out the Farnell catalogue at work, meanwhile I have added a picture of my blue dash lights on my webpage.
