I'm a Yorkshireman, it goes without saying that I'm "careful" when it comes to parting with money :)

I see thing like this as a learning process so I like to ask a lot of questions, I'm not one of these peoples that just follows the crowd and goes with the normal option, unless it's the best one of course :)

im sure michael will make the right choice. lee was showing me some second hand turbo kits on ebay for $1000, everybody has different ideas of what they want to aim for.

The right choice for me will really be something that replaces the standard units with something better and gives a small opportunity for more power, I don't feel I need 1000bhp or even 600bhp, 450>500 would be enough and then I can address the cosmetic side of things :)

when you think of it you get a lot for your money with say a small budget kit. external wastegate, downpipes mid pipes. with hybrids you get a bit more power and stronger than stock turbos

Gaz's single kit appeals but I don't really know enough about the conversion to really go for it, my budget is an issue because this is money I was going to be spending on the wedding :(

Hybrids look like stock ;)

Good point - who has a single and what does that mean to the premiums?

I couldn't even get insurance as a 'private' citizen with all my mods (well not unless atmospheric rates)

Hybrids...?

What Hybrids?

This is where Mcanny is better off with a UK spec. Liverpool and Victoria will insure him as its a UK and luckily will ignore all mods except increasing displacement, whether it be cams, FMIC etc etc.

My last quote was £602 f/comp on stage 3's and was advised by them that going single wouldn't effect that price:)

I think I need to be 30 to take advantage of their excellent policy though :(

They were reluctant to quote me the last time I called... something to bear in mind for the future though, I'm getting there slowly ;)

Mcanny, you have pm re turbos, may be able to help short term re suspension too :) .

Apologies for the slow reply, I'm running round in circles at the moment and keep forgetting to do things.

Turbo feedback was really useful, thanks for that - suspension help would be appreciated :)

I'm just down the road, would it be easier for me to pop up your way sometime this week for a chat?

Yeah feel free to give me a call or pm and we can meet up, you'd have the dubious honour of being the 1st other Supra owner I've ever met apart from one that followed me 5 miles home and then asked me loads of quetions about my UK spec to which I must have seemed a little disinterested to say the least :conf: (at the time it was just a car that I'd bought 'cos I could and was only really into bikes, big appologies if you're out there reading this I now understand what the big deal was). You can have a go in the car to see if you like the hybrids (personally I love em) and I've got my old shocks in the garage from when I had Chris Wilsons set up fitted. I look forward to hearing from / seeing you soon.

p.s did Turbo Technics come back to you ?.

Just a quick post for those that've been following this thread to say I met up with Mcanny last night so he could check out a UK with hybrids. He's posted what he thought of them (and the car in general) here;

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17273

which should prove interesting reading for the many people that responded to his original post on here (oh that and it makes me feel all warm and nice about my car and myself :) ).

Quick one - would hybrids on a UK car bolt onto a J-Spec or are there differences?

There are differences between the J-spec and UK mounting bolts , IMO when hybridid both cars will perform very similar , Pauls now drives more like a UK but he has countered this by upping the gain on his BC , his car feels very strong when boost is building but takes longer to spool , when he has a Hi-Stall fitted it will be a flying machine .

So if I got lucky and someone with a J-Spec had some hybrids to sell me they wouldn't bolt on to my UK spec?
