A-Pillar fitting?

Recommended Posts

What is the best way to fit a Miami GT 2 gauge A-Pillar pod? I don't have the original trim so can't easily line it up. I have done the gauge holes and velcro'ed up the top bit but need advice on the rest.

Any ideas?

Well my Envy one had a tab at the bottom that fitted in a slot closest the bottom of the pillar. The rear fitted ok into the plastic panel section to the right of your head and stays in place.

That just left me needing to hold it up at the top apex point of the windscreen. You'll notice there's a bolt hole there which you could try and line up with. I think Rob Sheffield did this from what I saw of it Sunday morning. I wanted something smaller than this and didn't fancy my aim with lining up the holes so I took a 4mm drill bit and drilled through the trim and into the metal behind nice and centrally. I then had a smallish, black self tapper which screwed in nicely. It's all very neat.

I don't think you get what I mean, he only glued the little red popper and it's clip to the new a-pillar, basically making it identical to the Toyota one. It pops on and off like the original.

Screws are so unsightly, and seems a waste when you've just spent all that money on a nice new a-pillar!

I don't know the stuff this guy used, I assume they use it for repairing and sticking bumpers/bodykits etc. but it's like a black goo that sets hard though slightly flexible. I'll try and get mine off and get a pic of it at some point, there's no way it's gonna break off :) lol..

Well mine has the little 'tongue' bit to slip behind the dashboard, and it clips behind the b-pillar plastic the same as standard and then has this clip at the top of the windscreen. It holds up my two gauges which are quite heavy and it really looks as though it was supposed to be there.

I'll get some pics this evening, would do it now but the car is about a million degrees inside at the moment!
