markymark
Ok - the girlfriend mentioned this to me the other day after she heard it on the news... didn't think much about it until I saw this article on sky news..... thinking quite a few of us are going to have problems - children UP TO 12 must be seated in a car seat from September. I know this is due to accidents etc... but this is going to be expensive for anyone with a few kids, plus extremely difficult for smaller rear seats like the soop My son is five & won't take kindly to being told he has to sit in a 'baby' seat, but how are people going to get their 12 year olds in one?? My main concern is does anyone know if the group 2 or 3 seats will fit in the soop... either that or the girlfriends in the back & my son's in the front... haha http://survey.sky.com/morethan/Default.asp?id=2&sarticle_id=
Ark
What a load of crock! I just bet someone thought "Hey, maybe if we make 30 million motorists buy expensive new car seats, we make make a bundle of cash in tax revenues, plus more in fines for those who don't want to..." Ah, but here we see the get out clause: Children aged three and over must use an adult belt in the back if a child seat or booster is not available, if the seats are already being used or if there is an emergency. Just don't buy one! And what about this: Children under three are allowed to travel in taxis that do not have car seats, but they must be carried. So mum must now carry 3 stone (maybe) of infant, which in case of a crash will have huge intertia, that the ordinary mum would not be able to hold...so baby goes through the front window. clever. It fits snugly into the shaping of the rear seats but I would only recommend it for children big enough to use the adult seat belt see http://www.kiddicare.com/invt/carbritromarz&source=froogle
Matt Harwood
It's the height that counts. They were talking about it on tv a week or so ago-so if your 10 year old is 4'5 or over they don't need a car seat. My 12 year old is now an inch taller than me (5'2) so I don't think he'd take kindly to sitting on a booster seat Chantelle
