i found Dremel tools a bit too small when trying to polish metal, it requires far too much effort. BEst thing i found was using a normal drill with a black paint/rust removal disc from B&Q to remove imperfections and pores and then using 3M wet n dry from 280 - 400 - 800 then finally 1500 grit papers before using a good vax. Dremel is good for the hard to reach crevices but would take donkeys to try and do the whole thing with it....my 2p worth!

Sure one of the kings of bling on here would be in a better position to advise you

Will this not scratch the metal up?? just worried im going to scaratch it beyond repair....is this ok to use then,,,,obviously I need to polish away the rough surface first, presumably this B&Q disc will do the job??

Just have to be careful with it and not press too hard or use it on one spot too long. Best thing is to try a test piece first to get used to it. Il try and get a pic of the disc up for you. Its usually kept by the paint sandpaper section....should do the job of removing the pores without deep scratching. You wont be able to damage the manifold unless you turn into a complete psycho with the drill :D

That would be very useful if you could :)

so let me get this straight then, you go over with this disc first and grind the pores off?? and then finish with the wet and dry paper after??

yes thats right, use the disc to grind away the pores etc it will leave like loadsa swirl marks and light scratches. then go over it with wet n dry paper using 240 then 400 then 600 then 800 then 1500 and making sure you use loads of water on it, DONT let it run dry and you will visibly see it getting smoother and shinier. Theres an excellent guide on supraforums which i used but instead of the 3M grinder wheel i used the black disc from B&Q as its much easier to remove pores with

blinding will take a look....kinda looks like something you would use to wash with in the bath :D

can feel a weekend project coming on ;)

is a there a name for it?

Damn threw the packet awat....its a paint/rust removal disc...you need to look in the Sandpaper section and it will be there, try and find a B&Q warehouse as the smaller ones may not stock, alternatively print the pic off and take it with you. If your thinking of doing the complete manifold id but a couple just in case...oh and use protection :p (not condoms):innocent: dont want bits of metal flying around at you...not nice, still got little splinters in my hands.

In summary if you use the guide on supraforums then you cant really go wrong as long as you take your time, i reckon the manifold is probably a good 6 hours worth of work but deffo worth it!!! Good luck and make sure you get some pics up ;)
