SimonR
Has anyone heard that they intend to enforce rubber brake lines as part of the MOT from next year and that braided ones will be a failure? Someone on TIF has heard this from an MOT tester. Anyone know anything about it?
LeeT
WTF is that all about. A braided hose is pretty much just a reinforced rubber hose so i would say it is bull shit

Terminator
Not that I have heard anything, but I do remember reading about some of the inferior quality lines not being all SS. There may be an issue with the integrity of the hose /union join due to salt damage. Total loss of braking is not good for your helath or those around you. If it the case any of our MOT tester members will confirm either way as they all have the same regular updates/ directives from the DVLA or DOT. I have not got a clue how they have time to read all the bull that comes out. I know a friend of mine got a slap for failing a car with a broken battery clip. He had not red the notes that said apparetnly its ok to have an unsequred battery flying about in an accident. OK if any one starts making rubber covers for SS lines for MOT time, I want my 25% as I thought of it first. Pat pending.
markrzs
perhaps it's because the mot examiner can't see the rubber hose behind the s/s to inspect ? still going to do mine though.

Mine failed today for a split hose and the guy recommened I get the braided for the retest as they were cheaper from mkiv store than toyota originals.
