RedM
Looking for a Mac laptop that'll run the latest version of OS X. Do I need a G4 or can I get away with a G3? Where do I look for them? Seem to be hugely expensive everywhere.
Robert
tbh to run the lastest os x you will need a G4 or G5, what sort of budget do you have for one?
Nick
The price for new Apple stuff seems to be the same where ever you go, I bought my PowerBook from the Apple website. I went into an electronics place here in Japan and they looked a lot cheaper, but I'm not sure if that's without tax. There's plenty to bargains to be found on the refurbed store: http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/wo/StoreReentry.wo?family=Certified The bargains do go quick though..... RedM
tbh to run the lastest os x you will need a G4 or G5, what sort of budget do you have for one? As little as possible! TBH, they do seem massively overpiced for what is essentially a normal laptop with a very pretty OS.
wkdboi2005
Try you local PC World they are selling off the old stock off PPC Mac's Cheap. Had the chance of a G5 Tower for £700 but did take it, it sold for £500 in the end.
Nick
As little as possible! TBH, they do seem massively overpiced for what is essentially a normal laptop with a very pretty OS. That was my initial impression too. Having had one since last December I'd never go back to a PC. Not a single virus, spyware, crash, reinstall, driver issue or faulty H/W or S/W. The build quality is second to none, and it just works, and that's all I want.
cashpoint
tbh to run the lastest os x you will need a G4 or G5, what sort of budget do you have for one? Mac laptops never got the G5 as they ran to hot. A G4 runs hot enough to act as a very good leg warmer. The G3's just look old now. If the refurb store doesn't have what you want then go to the ebay as with the new Intel Mac out now theres going to be a glut as the techno snobs upgrade to an intel mac.
