mikeyb10supra
Is it safe to support the front of the car under the front wishbones where they join onto the suspension.....ie so at the bottom of the shock where it joins the wishbones? Need4Speed
Like this? Under the wishbone to subframe bolt? Yes.
mikeyb10supra
Hmm got mine under the bit were the suspension joins the wishbone, just behind where the wheel bolts on.....I take it this is still safe as its under the suspension? Rob Davey
I put mine on the jacking points last time - is that a bad thing?
Lucifer
I put mine on the jacking points last time - is that a bad thing? With Wood I hope!
Rob Davey
With Wood I hope! Ok that doesn't help but I assume its a bad thing then, why's that if that’s the suggested jacking point?
albundy68
With Wood I hope! surely the underside of his supe cant look that good!
Need4Speed
Mikey, you want to support the car at the chassis end of the wishbone, not the wheel end.
Rob Davey
surely the underside of his supe cant look that good! Well it looks the same as before I jacked it up - thanks for your useful comment
TLicense
Why not just use the published support points. You can find them here:- http://www.mkiv.com/manual/manualtt/vehicle_lift_and_support_locations/index.html

You can find them here:- http://www.mkiv.com/manual/manualtt/vehicle_lift_and_support_locations/index.html thats what i used but it appears to be wrong, no one will actually say why though? Sharpie
thats what i used but it appears to be wrong, no one will actually say why though? OK, I'll take a stab at why Martin said "with wood" since we are in Chat What shape is the top part of your axel stand ? Flat or U (ish) shaped ? The stock lifting points are flat (ish) so, a U shaped top of an axel stand is going to do some damage - NO ? (well, that was how I read it)
grahamc
thats what I would have thought, wood would protect the under side of the car.
Wez
Why are the published toyota ones wrong, i have not used them myself for axle stands but see no reason why not. I normally just use a bit of common sense and place them somewhere solid, also depends how high i wanna get it and where i need access too.
