MrHanky
Wtf is that? Chernobyl? Yep, its just weird that it was such a busy place and now it is just devoid of all life.

garetheves
Bit of a dumb question but if you find somewhere on GE, how do you post up the coords. I know it tells you them in the bottom left corner but is there a way of just copying and pasting them??
i-macca
The actual site of Chenobyl is a little higher than that marker, as the reactor building is still visible. The reason being that there is still a large (debatably) amount of nuclear fuel and dust in there under several tonnes of concrete. Look at 51°23'22.32"N 30° 5'56.91"E, that's the exact co-ordinates of the reactor and you can see the dodgy roofs and large amounts of concrete over the place. They're planning on renewing the concrete sarcophasgus soon as it's dangerously close to falling down and letting out a new load of radioactive dust all over Europe.. MrHanky
This thread has restored my love of Google Earth (I know im a saddo). Just spent half an hour on the phone to my brother trying to decide between us if this 64 34 53.41 N 39 48 50.67 E is a Typhoon class submarine (biggest Sub ever and as seen in the Hunt for Red October). I think it is you know, not that anyone else will really care Mark
garetheves
This thread has restored my love of Google Earth i forgot just how cool it was. Bit boring but ive found the hotel and waterpark we went to on holiday in March, and obviously my house etc. Some of the things that people have found on there are pretty cool. SupraStar 3000
What is this place with 1,000,000 cars on the runways 5 miles from Santa Pod???? 52°13'47.31"N, 0°28'15.28"W Havn't got google earth on this machine but worth remembering Santa Pod was a US bomber airbase during WWII so it could be a water tower or base associated object. I always think how lucky we are to be able to play and race at Santa pod, and yet dozen's of young aircrew never returned home after taking off from that exact same tarmac. Terminator
Worked out yesterday that the images on google earth for our area (Wigan) are about 6 years old!! Wish they would update them from time to time. Same here, the cars on our drive have probably been converted to hamster cages by now. Terminator
how do i zoom in so its clear please In some areas you cant get clarity, don't know why. Perhaps they have taken out some light cloud layers but in doing so lost the definition.
