Hi

About 2 weeks ago i had my air con regased, the guy who did the leak test said that the compressor had a little leak which might seal its self when under pressure, so i went ahead and got the air con regased. now 2 weeks later there is no gas left, phoned toyota for a quote on a new compressor and they said £1022.00 , does anyone no where i can get one cheaper because this to me is expensive for something that i will only use for maybe 3 months of the year.

I have one £50 + postage (i'd think £10-15) if you want it.

I got it from Bhave on here for £50 and it won't fit the Lexus as its slightly different. By all means pm him to ask about it. I've just had it in the garage since i got it a couple of months ago...........can take a pic if required.

just a note......from an aircon specialist, if you only use your aircon for 3 months of the year, you will loose gas....the system needs to be used regularly to wet the seals and prevent gas loss....use it at least once a month for 10 minutes or so.....you can use it with heat too :) will save you guys money in the long run..

I get a kit from our local factors when I regas systems, its like a bomb! You sit it between the back seats and fire it, with the air con on flat out on recirc. It goes through the system and kills bacteria and smells much better. Think they are about 8 quid and anyone can do it.

Anyone know if the compressors are a serviceable item?

Ta

Apparently they are and about a third of the cost of a new one. The guy I used to regas mine told me he uses a company up north somewhere to recon them. The link is in my sig. Contact him and he might be able to help, really helpful guy which is why I put a link in my sig.

He also said about using the aircon all the time to keep it working, even in the winter.

Didnt know that. Nice input.

I ahve a question MY expert. Why does it smell when its turned off? Can i De sanitise it myself?

I think it smells because of the moisture in the air that is coming in, i.e. Air conditioned air is dry, but natural air isn't.

You can get an aerosol spray that you spray into the cabin and run the aircon system and blowers, and it moiders all the bacteria. Friend of mine with an Audi did it recently and it cleared up the pong overnight.

:iagree:As another aircon technician the above is spot on.

Too many people think aircon is for cooling only actually it is for conditioning the air. I leave mine on all the time winter and summer. Winter to dehumidify the air and summer to cool the air. If you want to save petrol then don't drive a Supra:taped:. If you don't want to lose the 3HP it uses then remove the aircon system (wait loss as well).
