Need sensible advice please

It's an awful thing to have to put up with in your life. To feel the anger and hatred when you're at your own private house and can't relax.

I really don't know what you can do about it though. These things can take ages to resolve. Complaining will only inflame the situation and they're more likely to dig their heals in.

I'd say your best hope is to find other neighbours that feel the same so you can all gang up on them as a community. You could start reading up on the laws etc, but I don't think there'll be any quick fix other than moving. :(

Either that or prepare for war, but you won't want to park your Supra there.

Nightmare.

What about buy a cheap CCTV setup from somewhere like CPC. Set a camera up facing where you think they might be shooting from. Gather the evidence, take it next door and threaten to call the RSPCA and police. That should stop em. and afterwards you have extra security for your car as you just move the camera to watch that.

Take the rabbit and call the RSPCA. Alternatively, take the rabbit and call me. I wont stand for animal cruelty. Saw a guy punch a dog once opposite where I was working at a house in Maidstone, so went over and asked him if he would like to be bashed with my 18" stilsons? I still reported him.

Sorry but why should Michael move house because of his pikey neighbours, if his neighbours are foster parents then they should be reported to social services. Make a note of everything they do and if possible get another neighbour who has been troubled by them to do the same. Are they in a local housing association house, if they are write to the housing association. Contact your local council nd see what they can do.

He shouldn't have to but all the other suggestions will just make life a misery for Michael and/or his neighbours.

I get on great with my neighbours. We hardly ever see them but when we do it's always friendly. We've lived here over 5 years and never a cross word between us. That's the way it should be.

However, the last place we lived was a terraced house where the neighbour one side was a petty minded git and the other side (nice couple) had dogs that barked all day long. I had a few little battles with the PMG because he used to deliberately obstruct our shared path with his dustbin so I couldn't get my bike in or out. Eventually he got bored of buying new dustbins and stopped doing it but the atmosphere between us was never good after that. If I still lived there I would have done something I'd regret.

Michael, IIRC you rent your house. In that situation I would move. Full stop.

Trying to get the authorities to do anything is so long-winded that you end up wondering if they aren't trying to protect the very people being complained about. Had troubles with students and we ended up moving. Oh sure, the council wrote letters but they were never received. Utter bollocks of course. Then they warned them about noise monitoring. So that failed. The final straw came when one of them made a grab at my partner whilst I was at work. It took a great deal of restraint for me not to tear that particular person apart. It was propbably in everyones best interest that we move.

I would probably go straight to the police. Show them the pellets. They don't just appear in your garden by magic. Let the cops have a word with the added benefit being that everyone gets to see the police are making a visit to your neighbours. That'll make people be more aware and if anything happens locally they'll be pointing fingers in the direction of the scumbags, guilty or not.

Have just read the rest of the thread Jake and I see that Michael rents his house then maybe it is in his best interest to move to other rented accom. The neighbours from hell then become someone else's problem. It is the minority that always spoil it for the majority and it would be extra expense on Michael's part, and that would rile me. I would still use some of my "not sensible" ideas even if I left the house.

You could have bring a sock party, all you have to do is buy a bag of sand, then invite a load of us from here, then we all take a sock off, fill it with sand (damp) and take the party to them. I could stop at a toy shop on the way and buy some Barbie socks, that way, your cats could join in too with their little kitty size weapons

Some interesting input there :)

Sadly CCTV isn't really an option as it would mean setting cameras up to point at their house, to do this they would be in a place where passing traffic could steal them :( I would like a CCTV setup though so maybe it's something I can look into at the same time.

I ordered some stuff from Aria.co.uk last week but it hasn't turned up, I just called them and someone signed for it on Monday under the name of 'Beech' - no idea who this is and Angela was home for most of the day, no card through the door from CityLink either. I'm betting it's the a-holes next door who have my stuff so it looks like I'm going to have to go round.

take the rabbit for sure. if it's not being fed and watered daily and it's cage changed weekly then it's being neglected.

i personally hate to see rabbits kept in 'hutches' as it gives them no space to run about at all and they end up going crazy. My girlfriend and i rescued a rabbit from the SSPCA last year and it was in an appalling condition, grossly overweight through lack of exercise, stained from being stuck in a hutch which wasn't cleaned and had no muscle whatsoever again from lack of room to move.

Unfortunately this kind of thing seems common in the UK and i can't help feeling sorry for the little critters every time i see them in a pet shop etc.

That's CityLinks fault then. Thieving neighbours aside that is just stupid of them.

Do they rent do you know? would the landlord be bothered by the house? from what you are saying it is likely to be well filthy inside.

Think the first call has to be to the RSPCA about the rabbit though. What is the cage like inside? Do they clean it at all?

They'll at least get charged with animal cruelty for that and if you prove it is them firing at your cats then at least they've got previous for an even better sentence.

Watch out if you go down this route.

It's been posted before here, but if you record anything bar your own property, I don't think it can be used unless you go through the proper registration with the relevant authorities and you can end up being done yourself.

F*&king stupid I know, but everyone seems to have more 'human rights' then us decent people.

I guess I am the only one that sees this as a bit trivial.

Your complaints are:

- Some late night BBQ's with karaoke

- Some visitors arguing

- Alleged BB shooting into your garden

I am not defending them but what you are describing is not really the end of the world and worth starting a row over. You have no proof that anyone is shooting BB's into your garden. I would suspect it is the kids and they might be shooting them at your cats but to be honest mate they are only little plastic BB's and I really do not think they will do much harm unless fired from a close range.

It is not the end of the world, until you actually catch someone doing it I suggest you get on with your life and enjoy yourself. There are much worse things that could happen... ;)

This thread has a serious lynch mob vibe to it.

do you realize killing them would lead to the rest of your life in prison, what a waste, maybe though if you are intent on it, you could do like a group buy, as i have a bitch next door that i could do with her sorted, and i am sure there are a few more club members could do with getting shot of a neighbour from hell;) :D

I'd move, why not take this opportunity to get yourself into even more debt by getting a mortgage? :D

...incidently moving furniture around on one of the hottest days of the year (yesterday) is not fun. We've just got to unpack everything now...

They had a big debate about this on five live the other day (its the only english speaking radio station I get in the car out here lol).. The advice their experts came up with was if the other occupants also rent their property then that is your best course of action. Written into the small print of your average rental agreement is a clause that you can be booted out instantly for unsociable behaviour, especially if its an agency let. After that you have to go all miss marple and get a book from the council and fill out the damn thing daily recording the stuff they do. Burden of proof lie's heavily with the victim here though.

To be fair they may not be shooting at your cats, they may just be shooting at your stuff or birds or something (reasonable assumption that they are though granted). The whole rabbit issue I would definitely report them to the RSPCA about that as that is a provable offence and they should have that poor animal removed and be banned from owning animals again regardless of any other offence or unsociable acts. I'm sure that this can be done anonymously so you aren't directly involved or named as the accuser.

And finally just for jolly japes order takeaway for them constantly and report gas leaks etc etc just for a laugh (couple of cheapy PAYG sim cards required). Eventually they will be black listed and their staple diet (most of these chavvy types dont cook for themselves) source will be removed as after a while places just refuse to deliver to that address. I know this because in training we did it to our drill instructer :)

Two years ago the Guy a couple of doors up from my house gave my cat stricknene (sp) because it was going in to his lovely garden (would have bought him one of those sonic thingies which work quite well apparently) but he had never complained to me. Cat was in a hell of a state for a couple of months but recovered. For some strange reason the guys garden has massive brown patches where nothing grows anymore - even cats don't go in to his garden now

We had a neighbour two doors down who used to neglect their rabbit quite badly. They used to go on holiday and the only food and water it got was because I used to go across the gardens and look after it (our neighbour let me cross the garden), it's fur was all matted and I've seen her kids kick it from time to time.

One morning I went to the hutch and it was shut but empty. Someone else obviously felt the same way and took it to a better home.

The neighbour was suspicious of us but brought her un-used rabbit food round to give to us, as we also had a rabbit (in the house). I binned it of course after she left.

A week later she popped round again to borrow "a cup of sugar" which she'd never done before in 3 years, and asked if our rabbit was still alive!!!

I said, "Yes of course, you'll have to be a lot cleverer than that."

One of my mates had scummy neighbours who he thought nicked his trailer, so late one night me and a good few other doorman took a visit after work. A week later the trailer returned - just appeared on the road, and hes not had a problem since.

The law will take about a year to come to a verdict and even then they might not do anything....

Its an almost impossible situation, whoever is in the wrong (and in reality by the sounds of it its obviously them)

My brother has had the same problem, his neighbours a few doors away are benefit scrounging scum, who spend their spare time, breeding kids and buying lottery tickets, but if it was just them it would be fine and maybe possible to deal with easier, the other problem is they are inbreds (lol) and have hooked up with other Benefit cheating scum who spend their spare time breeding kids and buying lottery tickets.

TBH if they won the lottery things would be better, but, knowing these people they'd probaly 'pimp their house' rather than move and build a swimming pool in the back garden.

I was once part of a neighbourhood where my family were considered as the neighbours from hell so i have been on both sides of the fence here.

Violence wont work, neither will collecting video evidence although having some security camera would be a great idea to protect property during the 'cold neigbourhood war'

In some innner city council estates these days they have a Mediator that the Council or Housing association employs and im given to understand that these people are a bit like a marriage Guidence Councillor (but I dont know much about this and obviously this is I would guess not available to private home owners!)

The bottom line is compromises have to be reached somehow and that really is the only way forward!

Women are the best 'people' for this normally, could start with a women to women 'good morning'...kind of 'did you have a power surge last night, isn't the weather awful' sort of thing.

Eventually you will be able to knock on their door and say..'dont wish to be a killjoy but (and crack some silly joke) do you think you can turn the music down a tad'...yep ok not ideal but you just have to tighten the reigns from there on but its give and take to start with!

Its the hardest thing in the world to do this, but we do it everyday at work, and even on here..though we dont always get it right on here either do we lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (anyway moving swiftly on lol)

You know all this im sure so sorry if i sound patronising and i appreciate that this can sometimes be a bigger challenge than we think!

Si

(-:

edit: ok ok...just go around with a baseball bat and beat the living crap out of all of em untill they cant make anymore noises....
