Problems with this hot weather or?

Hi all :)

Ive not had my sup so long so i dont know what the normal behavior is in this type of weather..

Today when i started it up after work i set off. i come to a junction not far away i try not to give it any untill its warmed up fully. the water temp was about a quarter of the way up and thanks to a X5 driver come steaming up the road i had to hurry pretty sharpish out of this junction..

Now, it may have just been my mind but the car hardly seemed to shift and the 2nd blower didnt seem to do much. The whole way home also it seemed to lack the power (Not massively) it had this morning.

Is this down to the heat and heatsoke of my airfilter?

Its bone standard other than my airfilter i have on there. may look at putting the standard box back on if this could be the cause?

Many Thanks

Ric.

Would a aftermarket air filter (blitz or HKS) cause a power drop in this hot weather? when compared to the standard box what would be better?

TBH mate a well shielded induction kit, healthy I/C will not result in a big drop in performance in hot weather, may be a difference of 0.05-0.1 Bar boost for cars running with restrictor rings or stock setup and the guys running EBC's shouldnt suffer too much as the EBC will adjust to maintain selected boost.

A poor shilded induction kit and flaking I/C will result in poor performance and drop in boost, the main cause of the 'sluggish' feel to the car would be the I/C if its in poor health even though it may be boosting fine as the intake air will not be dense enough due to the poor I/C thus resulting higher than usual intake temperatures,

Remeber the purpose of the I/C is to dissipate the heat away from the Turbo and thus keep the intake temps down.

My advice, Check the I/C and either put the stock Box back on or shield the induction kit adeqautely, remember, heat soak is more of a problem when the car is travelling at slow speeds and alot of stop and start, its less of a problem when travelling at higher speeds, (Dual carrage way, motorway), If you car feels sluggish at mid and top end in the summer then its more than likely due to an ageing I/C.

I can confirm this is what I'm seeing. Max boost 1.1 instead of 1.2 in the winter.
