It turns out it was a bit of dirt so the gearknob I bought is surplus to requirements. If anyone needs one for there auto, then this ones for sale for the price I paid for it, £25... apparently it has the mechanism on it as well as the guy couldn't be bothered to take the gear nkob of it.
