Turn the router over and read the model number to make sure you are going to download the correct firmware.

 

Download, then log into the modem set-up screen and select firmware upgrade. Follow the instructions from there..... ;)

 

 

** make sure you get the correct one for your model, if you get it wrong you could render your modem inoperable.

Netgear routers have a pretty simple interface.

 

If you go the support section on the netgear site (http://www.netgear.com) you can download the latest firmware

 

You'll need to log on the router in IE usually addres http://192.168.0.1 and enter username and password (Netgear default is usually 'admin' and 'password')

 

Next go to 'Router upgrade', browse to the firmware file you downloaded and upload. Don't reboot or switch off the modem until its done!
