Polishing "Grit"

Is this required to get the mirror reflection?

 

I have some other stuff such as brasco? metal polish, would this be ok? the mian problem is I cant use my car :( because all the bits are out ready to be polished but I realised I have no grit :( is there anything as good? if not where would sell this grit, halfords B&Q etc?

grit? never heard of it. if you're polishing inlet manifold ect then its buffing wheel and wax time (i assume they stock, never touched)

Non-intricate areas (not the altenator) can be done with polishing/buffing mops and polishing wax on a pillar drill or bench grinder. A sander and even a angle grinder can be usefull to remove really rough casting marks before finally polishing.

It needs to be done in stages.

Long and tedious work it is. I've spent many hours polishing stock turbo pipework etc but good results can be achieved.
