Clunky clunk gearbox/clutch/flywheel?

I have searched for the last 2 hours on this and have learned quite a bit. Some more info would be great.

First off I will let ye know i have a n-reg j-spec 6speed TT bpu++.Only own it about a week so still learning the car.

What bothers me is the clunky noise from the gearbox.I have figured out for certain the car has an uprated clutch since it is extremely grabby and makes a small noise when not engaged.once i engage the clutch the noise stops.

What bothers me is the clunks from the gearbox.I have researched and am led to believe that this is so because i must have a lightened flywheel/not the dual mass type>Is this correct?

Symtoms are If i am in second gear and slow down going over a ramp its clunk clunk time and also when i pull away slowly after going over the ramp its clunk clunk again until the car picks up some revs.Taking off and slowing down in first gear is clunky too.Is this normal?.Its not very nice in traffic having an amazing looking car that sounds like a tractor. Also i have to convince everyone that sits in the car that the gearbox is not going to fall off.

Does all this sound familiar to anyone?Am i making the correct assumption that its the flywheel that causing this noisey clunky gearbox? Is the remedy to install a stock dual mass flywheel? Anyone in the st.albans area that would have a look at this for me as i am a new supra owner and do need help.

How can i tell if i have a lightened flywheel, anyone got a picture of the stock one.Sorry for the long post guys.

Any help you can offer would be grately appreiated

If you had a lightweight fly you would probably know about it. They cause the gearbox to rattle very loudly at idle, especially when hot. Clunking on pull-away is pretty normal for the 6sp box, with the stock flywheel or not. Probably worth changing the gearbox oil, as often the wrong stuff gets put in. You should use V160 oil only from Toyota.

All supra flywheels tend to give a bit of a rattle(stock especially), even brand new ones (after a few hundred k)

Its nothing to worry about :)

VERY rare for the boxes to go wrong, they are called agricultural boxes for a reason ;)

Make sure they have toyota V160 juice in them tho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!no other gearbox oil will do
